This blog is developed and managed by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).  For more information about CIPE visit www.cipe.org

The CIPE Development blog discusses international development issues in light of CIPE’s programs and world events. CIPE and its partners in more than 100 countries operate in the belief that economic and political liberties are intertwined and that democracies and market economies are essentially two sides of the same coin. In strengthening democracies through private enterprise and market-oriented reform, CIPE focuses on a number of key development themes including democratic governance, anti-corruption, corporate governance, informal sector, entrepreneurship, and women and youth empowerment.

CIPE believes that the private sector plays a key role in making democracies work. Engaging the business community in the policymaking process builds a foundation for democracies that deliver socio-economic benefits for all segments of the population.
