nOffice and its three partners Markus Miessen, Ralf Pflugfelder and Magnus Nilsson are an architectural practice based in Berlin and London, and situated itself on the crossroads of critical architecture, urban intervention and the art world. They have built a pavilion for the Lyon Biennial (2007), an exhibition space for Max Wigram Gallery in London (during Frieze 2006), and a traveling exhibition architecture for an international group show initiated by Credit Suisse. The practice is currently working on a series of various-scale projects, including the self-initiated HUO Archive – Cultural Centre and Residency, Ogilvie and Tyroller House (Germany), as well as a year-long redefinition of the spaces of the Bristol-based art institution Arnolfini, spanning over the course of three consecutive in-house exhibitions. In Brasil, nOffice has consulted a masterplan for a 50 hectar rural density strategy and has now been commissioned for the design and building of a Mediateque as its central public component. The practice has been awarded 2nd prize for their Wohnpilot housing scheme in Graz by the Austrian Chamber of Architects. In Berlin, they are working on a gallery and two private residences. In New York City, nOffice has been commissioned to propose an urban intervention for the 2009 Performa Biennial. The practice also works on an architectural-scale installation with a New-York based visual artist. In collaboration with a consultancy for sustainable economics and development research, nOffice is currently developing a 20-year plan for the future of Berlin.
