SEGA Dreamcast Collection AnnouncedEarly this morning details of the Dreamcast Collection, a boxed version of the first quartet of titles currently slated for re-release as part of the Dreamcast digital re-release program was announced via press release. You can see details from that press release below. LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (January 14th 2011) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced that a packaged compilation of classic titles from SEGA’s popular Dreamcast™ console will hit retail shelves on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and the PC. The Dreamcast Collection will be available on February 25th 2011 in Europe and February 22nd in North America. The Dreamcast Collection includes the fan favourites Sonic Adventure™, Crazy Taxi™, SEGA Bass Fishing™ and Space Channel 5™: Part 2. Players will get to enjoy four very different Dreamcast experiences, from hopping behind the steering wheel of Crazy Taxi, to taking things a little slower by luring in their fish before catching them hook, line and sinker with SEGA Bass Fishing. Alternatively, take over as intergalactic news reporter Ulala in Space Channel 5: Part 2 and dance your way past the evil Rhythm Rogues, or make it all about speed in Sonic’s first Dreamcast outing, Sonic Adventure! SEGA’s Dreamcast Collection features enhanced graphics for both platforms versions, providing an even more engaging experience. In addition to this, achievements and online leader boards will be available for each game providing a competitive edge and allowing players to prove their skills! “The Dreamcast console is still remembered as a pioneering console for online gaming,” commented Gary Knight, VP of Marketing at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe “We are delighted to be able to offer to our large community of dedicated fans a collection such as Dreamcast Collection for them to enjoy old favourites on this generation of consoles”

I’m a little disappointed at the lack of Shenmue, Jetset Radio and ChuChu Rocket in that collection. I already own 2 out of 4 of those titles on XBLA..

Could anybody please tell SEGA that the Wii still exists? Thanks!
I love the idea of packs with DC games. There are many DC titles I would love to play again… ON MY NINTENDO WII
We should introduce you to the Sonic fans complaining that Colours is only on the Wii!

Aw, really? Why release a retail version of what’s already available for download on the respective online stores of the 360 and PS3?

Very cool and about time….
I want some Dreamcast online collections like Propeller Arena that was never released.
Dreamcast was the best system I owned next to my SEGA Master System with 3D glasses.

Oh SEGA… What in the world is this crap? SEGA Bass Fishing is not a fan favorite. It was crap then… what makes you think it won’t be crap now. It’s bad enough you shoe-horned that crap into Sonic Adventure via Big the Cat.
And only four titles, two of which are already on XBLA? I realize a DVD only holds about the same as 4 GD-ROMs, but where the hell is JSR or Fighting Vipers? You know, games we wanna get our hands on.

Very disappointed. I already own the originals and the DLC versions. Why not just make a huge mash up of older Dreamcast games. I’m pretty sure back in the day DC discs only held 1.2GBs anyways. The PS3 and 360 both can hold large amounts more. Or release series all on one disc like the Sonic Adventures and Shuffle. Or even both Shenmue’s on one disc..Not 3 random games.. lol.

Four games?JUST FOUR GAMES?
Well,if it has some extras like exclusive video interviews or unlockable prizes, then that’s fair.
But I hope they release a second compilation too…

@slimify d: I think they’re going to stick with keeping ChuChu Rocket! on the mobile platforms, seeing how much they’re pushing for it on the iPod/iPhone/iPad. As for Jet Set Radio Future, that was an Xbox game. Not a Dreamcast one.

Wow i’m stunned, what a serious dissapointment. 4 games 2 of which i’ve already downloaded, certainly won’t be buying this!! Thank christ i’ve still got my trusty old dreamcast to fall back on. Sega are certainly not helping the cause with this penny piching release.
Daytona usa 2001 change the name if licence issues are a problem.
JSR
farrari f355
rez
crazy taxi 2
shenmue 1,2 unlikely
sonic adventure 2
sega marine fishing to complete bass fishing package.
confidential mission
house of the dead 2
fighting vipers 2
virtua fighter 2
outrigger
sega gt
sega rally 2
zombie revenge
Take a look sega plenty of sega only releases to choose from, i sometimes wonder where people over in sega land come from. Certainly they don’t appear to be sega traditionlists. Do a bit of research on your heritage.
I can’t imagine this release being popular for obvious reasons, and if it dosen’t, we get the blame for not supporting sega. I’ll will support sega when they start listening and taking action in what true sega fans want. You know what games we all request, certainly not these efforts. Perhaps you guys need to look on game forums, then you may get the message what games are being requested.
Sega you really no how to ruin your reputation with the fans.
A very dissaponted sega fan.

Yeah, JSRF was an Xbox game, but JSR was a DC one.

PC? :O
Hmm…Is it possible for these games to get a digital release for the pc like in the consoles, instead of only a retail collection?
