Chinese President Hu Jintao: China 'committed' to human rights

Chinese President Hu Jintao has admitted "a lot still needs to be done" in China over human rights.

Mr Hu was speaking at a joint news conference with US President Barack Obama on the first full day of his state visit to the US.

He added China is ''always committed to the protection and the promotion of human rights'' but it was a ''developing country in a crucial stage of reform''.
