The Public Affairs Office of the City Manager's Office was created in 2007 and serves as the primary idea generator and clearinghouse for all marketing, public information, community relations, media affairs, and intergovernmental relations activities.  The Department is responsible for the development and implementation of all communications programs.

The Public Affairs Office is responsible for communicating the City's mission, set by the City Council, vision and priorities to the public we serve, and making City government more accessible to citizens.

Public Information
Promote a clear understanding of City policies, issues and activities as well as providing timely and accurate information on Council priorities, special events and services in an effort to enhance the public and City employees' confidence in, and knowledge of City government.  The PAO maintains the City’s quarterly newsletter, City Pride. The PAO coordinates tours of City Hall and other City facilities.  One of the Public Information services available is the City Speakers Bureau program, which offers experts from many different fields to speak for free at your group's gathering.

Media Affairs

Respond to media inquires concerning the City of Tracy.  Is the spokesperson for the City, including the Police and Fire Departments.  The Public Affairs Office works to promote positive stories with in local and national media.

Channel 26

Oversee programming, budget and staff of the City’s Government and Education Channel.

Marketing

The Public Affairs Office helps the City of Tracy reach out to the region to market the city. Through advertisements, sponsorships and partnerships, the Public Affairs Office works to illustrates why Tracy is the best place to call home.

Customer Service

Act as a catalyst for increased responsiveness to the citizens of the City of Tracy, facilitate communication between the public and the City staff members and assist the parties in identifying solutions to citizen requests and inquiries.

Neighborhood Services
Increase the number and diversity of citizens participating in City of Tracy activities and governmental processes, and maintain productive relationships between the City and its citizens through effective and innovative outreach programs such as a strong and dynamic citizen education programs, and the use of systematic public involvement practices that address community issues and problems with citizens and other potentially affected interests.

Intergovernmental Relations

Track legislative activity of regional, state, and federal government bodies.  Be the liaison to outside elected officials and their staff for the City of Tracy.
