In today's Calendar, I profile the terribly young Long Beach band Avi Buffalo, which quickly vaulted to international indie stardom on the strength of its instrumental wizardry and dirty-minded pop savvy. The band's self-titled Sub Pop debut cemented it as one of 2010's most closely watched L.A. acts (now a trio with the departure of keyboardist Rebecca Coleman), and members will take a deserved victory lap opening for My Morning Jacket at the Greek Theatre on Thursday. Read the whole piece here.
