Appropriations and Authorizations Requests

Aloha kakou.  Each year, Congress works on legislation that will fund the federal government for the coming fiscal year.  In preparation for these appropriations, my staff and I consult with numerous constituents, governmental officials, and organizational representatives.

I understand the fiscal reality our nation currently faces, and I have always been a strong advocate for responsible government spending.  The practice of submitting Congressionally-Directed Spending Requests is an integral tool that we in Congress use to ensure that the needs of our communities are met. I work hard to ensure funding for Hawaii has the greatest impact possible.

I support efforts to increase transparency in the appropriations process.  That is why I have agreed, along with all of my Senate colleagues, to post these requests online so they may be reviewed by the public before they are considered by the committee.

The links below are my requests to the Appropriations Committee.  Only some of these projects will eventually receive federal funds.
