‘The idea behind the concept is to propagate music through teaching' The trust's advisers include violinist Mysore Nagaraj and painter B.K.S. Varma BANGALORE: At a time when the space for fine arts is shrinking, a group of like minded-individuals have come together to establish the Vishesha Fine Arts Trust, a not-for-profit charitable trust to propagate, for a start, music. Inauguration The trust, the brainchild of artistes, patrons and individuals, will be inaugurated at the MLR Convention Centre, J.P. Nagar 7th Phase here Saturday evening. Explaining the motive, Trustee Mysore Satheesh explained that the idea is to propagate music through teaching, and drive home the importance of fine arts in schools at primary and middle levels, honour artistes who have made significant contributions, and provide scholarships to needy artistes. “Fine arts are an unstructured field. The trust will also provide a roadmap for budding artistes,” said Mr. Satheesh. Trust's advisers The trust's advisers include violinist Mysore M. Nagaraj, painters B.K.S. Varma and G.N. Seetharamiah among others. The inaugural ceremony, at 6 p.m., will be attended by M.R. Jaishankar, chairperson, Brigade Group; Mahesh Joshi, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan Kendra; and Ganakalabhushana Vidwan R.K. Padmanabha among many others. It will be followed by a fund-raiser jugalbandi concert by Grammy-winner Padmashree Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on the ‘mohan veena' and violin maestro Mysore M. Manjunath.
