Alexandria is America's Most Romantic City!

Amazon.com has announced its list of the Top 20 Most Romantic Cities in America and Alexandria, VA is Number #1, for the second year in row! The ranking comes from compiling sales data of romance novels and relationship books (Kindle Books and print books), romantic comedy movies (digital movies and DVDs), Barry White albums (CDs and MP3s), along with sexual wellness products, since Jan. 1, 2011, on a per capita basis in cities with over 100,000 residents. Numbers 2-5 are Knoxville, TN; Orlando, FL; Miami, FL: and Ann Arbor, MI.

    Mobile Applications for Washington DC

    Mobile Applications for an IPhone or Android, or other mobile devices, are growing in popularity and offer an easy way to access your favorite web pages when you are on the go.

    Verizon Center has just debuted a mobile app for Android, iPhone and iPod Touch that will allow fans to add to their live event experience at the downtown Washington DC venue for all games, concerts and events. The customer-friendly app provides detailed, searchable maps and locations for all concession food items and drinks, guest services, bathrooms, ATM machines, stairs, elevators, entrances and exits.

    Washington’s Birthday Cherry Challenge

    In honor of George Washington's Birthday, you can participate in the Cherry Challenge and try some cherry-centric creations by Alexandria, Virginia chefs on February 6-12, 2011. As patrons order these featured items, they are given ballots that allow them to become the judges. Items will be judged on taste, presentation, and creativity. The restaurant whose dish gets the highest scores will receive a handsome plaque and be featured in the George Washington Birthday Parade, on February 21, 2011.

    Restaurants will have the choice to enter any of the three categories: Starters, Mains, or Desserts/Drinks. They can enter more than one category, but only offer one featured item per category. Participating in this year's contest are Dishes of India, Fontaine Caffe and Creperie, Food Matters, Hank's Oyster Bar, King Street Blues Old Town, Murphy's Irish Pub, Pizzaiolo Café on Fern, Rampart's, Seagars Restaurant (Hilton Old Town), Shooter McGee's, St. Elmo's Coffee Pub, Tempo and The Light Horse.
