Blockbuster moves toward auction block: report Last Update: 2/10/2011 9:51:49 AM SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Blockbuster Inc. is preparing to put itself up for sale after the struggling movie-rental chain's creditors disagreed on plans to help it exit bankruptcy protection, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter. Blockbuster intends to seek buyers instead of pursuing a bankruptcy reorganization, according to the report. Carl Icahn and a group led by Monarch Alternative Capital LP are among the potential bidders, the Journal reported, adding that an offer could be around $300 million plus assumption of store leases and other liabilities.
