EGYPT: Parliament dissolved, constitution suspended

Egypt's military dissolved the country's parliament and suspended the constitution, saying it will rule for six months or until presidential and parliamentary elections are held, according to a statement by the military council read on state TV Sunday.

The move, which comes two days after the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, meets some of the demands of the anti-government protesters who demonstrated against Mubarak and the parliament and demanded constitutional reforms.

I guess Egyptian military is thinking is same as Israel military, Will US citizens taxes going to keep us in power :)

This should be interesting, a lot of times when the military takes over a country they never give it back to the people, hmmm. Guess it is a matter now of wait and see. Since our government did some pushing on this if it all falls apart this will be another Country that will blame us for all of their problems. Guess they will have to get in line.

Egypt's military is not a bastion of democratic thinkers or advocates and of course it has over thirty years developed it's own economic institutons that that provide support for sustaining the military. That situation is not the stuff of supporting short timelines and involving the civil side of society to the table to begin the planning for restructuring a society from an autocratic dictatorship to some form of representative government that actually includes a constitution the meets the test by western standards. The longer this process takes the greater becomes the possibility that right wing autocrats will gain a foothold that will be difficult to dislodge from the power . The folks that made this great awakening happen must be ready keep- it until what they want and should have actually occurs .

Now that TERRORISTIC MAKE-BELIEVE NATION OF ISRAEL can be destroyed and the PEACE LOVING Palestinians can be FREE!
