Football: Kerstetter leaves Taft for Florida school

Another day, another City Section coach leaves. This time it's Woodland Hills Taft Coach Matt Kerstetter, 34, who has resigned to become the coach at Bucholz High in Gainesville, Fla.

Kerstetter spent four seasons as head coach at Taft, and it's no surprise he has left despite the Toreadors having one of the most prestigious programs in the City Section. He lost his full-time teaching position last year and has been working as a long-term sub.

Former Taft Coach Troy Starr, now the coach at Helix in San Diego, said he has no interest in returning. If Taft doesn't have any teaching positions to go with the coaching job, top candidates aren't likely to apply.
