Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt officially still not getting a divorce anymore, for now [poll]

September 30, 2010 |  4:09 pm

Speidi-white-house

This just in from the Department of Yeah, Whatever, Blah Blah Blah: Heidi Montag officially told the court Thursday that she doesn't want to divorce Spencer Pratt anymore -- for now, at least.

Montag had the divorce filing dismissed without prejudice. That's the divorce request that came in the wake of her moving out and then filing for separation on her own, with the form possibly filled in using a crayon, No. 2 pencil or old eyeliner (alas, no hearts over the "i's") -- the one that worked to get the reality-TV twosome loads of publicity for Pratt's freaky beard and Montag's freaky bosom. Oh yeah, there was that sex-tape thing too.

Whatevs.

In a "shocking" turn of events, the two were spotted canoodling recently in Costa Rica, purportedly as part of their sex-tape negotiations. Perhaps it was his touching personal apology that turned her heart?

So, yeah, they're still a match made in Hollywood.

Spencer Pratt apologizes to Heidi Montag (through a magazine, natch)

September 9, 2010 |  9:30 am

Spencer-pratt-divorce-sorry In precisely the kind of come-to-Jesus moment any girl would die to have with an ex, Spencer Pratt has stepped forward to take full accountability for the shenanigans that ended his marriage with Heidi Montag.

Stepped forward to People magazine that is.

"Divorce can be a trying, draining, and emotionally devastating experience for all involved," Pratt says in a new interview.

"Despite these hardships, most individuals manage to conduct themselves with dignity and maturity. I did not –- I failed spectacularly."

We've come to expect nothing less from Mr. Photo Op than this type of candid revelation made to a national publication. The bleeding heart in us hopes he writes her a note too. We'd even settle for a skywriter.

"I horribly embarrassed the one person that meant the world to me. For my outrageous and infantile behavior, I offer Heidi my most sincere apologies," Pratt said.

Montag's response coming soon to a newsstand near you.

Heidi Montag files for divorce from 'Hills' husband Spencer Pratt

July 30, 2010 |  1:18 pm

Heidi-spencer-divorce Looks like it's really over for reality television duo Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

The surgically enhanced blond took her petition for legal separation a step further on Friday, filing for divorce in Santa Monica Superior Court.

"Heidi has amended her petition for separation and today has filed a petition for dissolution of marriage from Spencer Pratt," her lawyer tells People magazine.

"The couple has agreed they would like their divorce to be finalized in a timely manner in an out of court settlement. Both parties are amicable with each other and over the possibility of finalizing their divorce."

The once-dynamic duo are no strangers to publicity stunts, leading to wide speculation of a hoax when news of their breakup hit in late May.

Since parting, Montag's career got a nice jolt of adrenaline with proposed reality projects and a cameo in Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston's "Just Go WIth It." Pratt has spiraled deeper into obscurity, with fleeting designs on starting a paparazzi agency.

Montag and Pratt held a big white wedding in April 2009 in Pasadena, where the ceremony, naturally, was filmed for the now-defunct MTV show "The Hills." Sadly, the world won't see their divorce proceedings in prime time. Then again, we don't put anything past these two.

Stephanie Pratt on Lindsay Lohan, the end of 'The Hills'

July 9, 2010 |  8:02 pm

Stephanie Pratt has advice for Lindsay LohanWith the series finale of "The Hills" set to air Tuesday, the Ministry caught up with Stephanie Pratt, a star of the reality-TV staple and sister of controversial Spencer Pratt.

It's refreshing to see how level-headed and, well, real Pratt is when she's truly unscripted -- offering advice for embattled Lindsay Lohan (Pratt was arrested on a DUI charge in 2009) and discussing estrangement from her brother and his soon-to-be-ex-wife Heidi Montag, and her own life after TV.

Pratt thinks Lohan "really should take this jail time. I know she's not going to do the whole 90 days. I think it's going to be great for her. I'd love her to have a great, great comeback."

She shared her own experience: "When I got my DUI, I knew that I had the best fans ever thanks to the show. I wanted to make sure I did everything right. ... I went to [the] Betty Ford [Center] and stopped drinking," she said. "I only did that so these kids know that you can have fun but take care of yourself first."

The 24-year-old blew just over the .08% legal limit when she was pulled over last October, the night of Montag's birthday party. She made a deal in which the DUI charge was dropped in exchange for a no contest plea to misdemeanor exhibition of speed, three years' probation, completion of an alcohol education class and attendance at AA meetings. The Betty Ford stint was her decision, however.

"You can say, 'This is my chance. I'm being tested right now, I'm on trial right now and whatever I do it's going to manifest my future.'"

But while lightning-rod Lohan contends with moving from mess to manifest destiny, Pratt's got a controversial twosome right in her family tree -- the aforementioned Spencer and Heidi.

"I still haven't talked to them. It's now been since, I guess, September," she said. "I don't ...

Lauren Conrad will appear on 'The Hills' finale post-show

June 30, 2010 |  5:47 pm

Lauren-conrad Don't count Lauren Conrad out of "The Hills" completely, even though the blond mini-mogul has said before that she wouldn't surface.

She won't appear in the final episode, true, but Conrad will participate in a live post-finale show to air July 13 on MTV, "Hills" creator Adam DiVello confirms.

"We have a live finale after show ... Lauren Conrad will be at that finale event, along with Whitney Port and the entire cast," DiVello told Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show

Conrad was featured on MTV's "Laguna Beach" before landing her own spinoff; "The Hills," became a not-really-reality phenomenon in 2006, with touchstone characters Kristin Cavallari and Audrina Patridge and the side show of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

Conrad's final appearance as a main character aired in 2009. She has since launched a successful clothing line with retailer Kohl's and penned several books.

Heidi Montag moves out of home she shares with Spencer Pratt

June 1, 2010 |  2:48 pm

Montag-Pratt Holy Justin Bobby! Could the reign of Speidi really be over?

Last week there were reports that the camera-loving couple had called it quits. Now Montag, in an interview with People magazine, is fueling the fire: I needed some alone time," she said, confirming reports that she has moved out of the Pacific Palisades home she shared with Pratt. "There are so many lies out there about me and I just needed space -- even away from my husband."

She added: "I've always loved Spencer ... but right now we're working on things."

Say it isn't so! Now who's going to shoot her awesome music videos??!?!

Montag plans to mull over things this summer -- when she's not yakking it up with pal and new roommate Jen Bunney, which will be captured on film -- how convenient -- as they begin shooting their own reality show.

Will you tune in?

Maxim's Hot 100 list: Katy Perry is tops, but Heidi Montag flops

May 10, 2010 |  2:56 pm

Katy-perry-web Katy Perry rocketed up Maxim's Hot 100 list this year, jumping to No. 1 after buzzing around at No. 15 in 2009.

What made her so much hotter this year -- the Russell Brand engagement? The ProActiv acne treatment commercials? After getting hooked on 2008's "I Kissed a Girl," Maxim seems to like Perry's "California Gurls" single for 2010, and has high hopes for a super summer backed by tunes from her upcoming album.

Girl-next-door Perry didn't make the cover, however. That hotness was delivered by Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks.

Rihanna moved up a spot this year to No. 6, up from No. 8 in 2009 and No. 15 in 2008 -- maybe all those photo shoots helped? Megan Fox, meanwhile, fell to No. 5 from No. 2 in 2009. (Yeah, the unfunny school budget cuts video took the edge off for us too.)

After popping onto the list at No. 100 in 2008 and falling off it last year, Tila Tequila thankfully remains un-Hot in Maxim's eyes. The mag appears unimpressed with Heidi Montag as well -- she made the list in 2008 and 2009, but fell off this year, possibly due to the weight of her massive new breast implants.

How soon until hubby Spencer Pratt lovingly tweets his outrage? We're betting soon, because "The Hills" costar Audrina Patridge -- who didn't even make the cover of People -- came in 12th.

PREACH IT! Still more proof that reality TV ain't real

April 26, 2010 |  6:27 pm
6a00d8341c630a53ef0133eca28d29970b-pi[1] Still think your favorite reality TV show is being totally honest with you? You might not want to read this.

Now comes fresh evidence that the reality genre is anything but believable. Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag -- the epic fame whores at the center of MTV’s "The Hills" -- reportedly are being urged by a producer to stage fights.

"MTV has been asking them to do inappropriate things for the show,” a source close to the couple (in other words, the couple) tells X17 Online. "They've wanted Spencer to play up his aggressiveness for ratings, and he doesn't want to do it. For Season 5, MTV producers even asked Spencer to hit his own sister Stephanie."

By now, this sort of news, presuming it’s accurate, should come as no surprise. Lauren Conrad has confessed that she staged some of her scenes on "The Hills," such as one phone call that actually had nobody on the other end. CW’s new airborne reality show "Fly Girls" seems to take bad acting to a whole new level. (The Washington Post called it a “reality-esque series filmed in deceptive, 'Hills'-style fake-o-vision, about a quintet of Virgin [America] Airways flight attendants who are based out of LAX and are forced [by producers?] to share a condo, which they call the Crash Pad.”)

And then there’s the E! show "Pretty Wild." We got this behind-the-scenes peek at the show in a recent issue of Vanity Fair:

MTV finally leaving 'The Hills' but not before Heidi Montag gets her 15th minute

March 25, 2010 |  1:29 pm

The hills cancelled

After years of privileged young things on journeys of self-discovery, MTV will lay to rest its reality hit "The Hills," which is about to premiere its sixth and final season on April 27.

Au revoir is in order for current cast Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Kristin Cavallari, Audrina Patridge (who debuts new beau Ryan Cabrera in the new season) and Stephanie Pratt.

“I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,” producer Adam DiVello says.

This doesn't mean the show is going quietly. A major moment captured for the last "Hills" hurrah includes Montag unveiling her many plastic surgeries to her mother, Darlene Egelhoff -- for the first time.

“It’s a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch,” says "Hills" executive producer Liz Gateley.

Um, we would imagine, given that Heidi's already  described her mother's reaction, saying Mom looked at her as though she were a "circus freak."

Interesting points for the final season will include the romance of Patridge and singer Cabrera, as well as Cavallari's battle against drug-abuse rumors.

"The Hills" is a spinoff of MTV's milestone reality show "Laguna Beach," which documented dramatic teens in the eponymous affluent beach town in Southern California.

After high school graduation, "Laguna" alum Lauren Conrad was cast as the "Hills" lead and remained the central character of the program. She filmed her last moment of catharsis in trendy eateries in March 2009.

PREACH IT! Spencer Pratt is either very patriotic, or very angry

March 16, 2010 | 11:41 am

Spencer prattWe’re shocked, just shocked, at reports that Spencer Pratt may not have come completely clean with the media this week.

Pratt, that shy violet and the husband of natural beauty Heidi Montag, claimed that he was quitting the reality show “The Hills” to pursue the life of a digital anti-terror warrior. The statement, which came via People magazine, indicated that Pratt was taking engineering classes at USC and that he would soon start working with a company called American Defense Enterprises.

Turns out, maybe, not so much.

PREACH IT! Spencer Pratt, fighting for truth, justice and the American database

March 15, 2010 |  3:34 pm
Speidi Where to begin with this one, where to begin ... Well, this story definitely falls under that extremely necessary MOG category of “There Are No Words.” Maybe we should just stick with the facts. When they’re this amazingly flabbergasting, you really don’t need much else.

People magazine reports that Spencer Pratt -- half of the most media-desperate couple on Earth -- has chosen a new profession. After studying software engineering at USC -- “with a focus on encryption” -- Pratt has announced he’ll work for American Defense Enterprises in its cyber security division.

"Upon learning of President Obama's declaration that the 'cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation,' I have decided to refocus my energy and devote my full resources to helping America face this and other unprecedented challenges," he told People in a very not-pre-written statement.

"My new mission is this: To do my part in maintaining the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent emerging technologies from threatening our nation's security,” Pratt continues.
