A.P. MOELLER-MAERSK A/S (MAERSK-B.KO), the world's biggest container shipper, has placed a $2 billion order with South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (042660.SE) to build 10 container carriers, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.
"The contract value may change a bit and there will be the public announcement on Monday," the person told Dow Jones Newswires by telephone.
At 1323 GMT, A.P. Moeller-Maersk shares in Copenhagen traded down 1% at DKK53,150. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering shares in Seoul closed up 5.7% at KRW34,200.
