Cop charged with dangerous driving

The West Australian February 22, 2011, 11:23 am

A 21-year-old police officer has been charged with dangerous driving over an incident in Bentley in February last year.

It is alleged the officer tried to stop a car on a police matter while driving an unmarked police vehicle about 10.30pm on February 24.

When the car did not stop, the officer pursued it through the intersection of Albany Highway and Alexandra Place.

A police spokeswoman said the officer lost control of the car as he entered the intersection, causing another vehicle to swerve to avoid him and collide with a pole.

The driver was not injured.

The officer is due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court on February 22.

He remains on operational duties.
