Cornelius concert tour felled by swine flu; Jeezy cancels Delaware show

Youngjeezy300 Cornelius, the Beatles-loving omnivore of seemingly all pop music, has cancelled his tour because of "swine flu concerns and increased governmental travel restrictions," according to an e-mail blast from his publicist. The Japanese artist was planning on stopping twice in Mexico, plus two dates in Los Angeles and Pomona in mid-May.

"To all of our fans," the e-mail continues, "we hope to return in 2010 upon the release of Cornelius' forthcoming album." Pop & Hiss asked the publicist for more info, but we haven't heard anything yet.

Earlier today, Idolator posted that Young Jeezy canceled his show at University of Delaware "in light of 10 suspected cases of swine flu being discovered on campus." And Four Tet, a.k.a. Kieran Hebden, was due to perform for the first time in Mexico tonight but had to cancel because the venue closed, according to a report in Music Week. Camp Freddy also nixed a show in Cancun, Mexico, slotted for May 18.

According to our sister blog, the Daily Travel & Deal, swine flu has also caused some frustration at sea. Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian cruise lines have all decided to temporarily suspend port calls in Mexico. Royal Caribbean, for instance, plans to make "alternate ports of call or spend additional time at sea." To make all that time pass faster, may we recommend double margaritas before epic games of shuffleboard?
