Hannie Rayson's first major success, Hotel Sorrento, is a story about the reunion of three sisters in the Victorian seaside town of their childhood, Sorrento. Hotel Sorrento has been performed numerous times and has also been produced in Germany, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and France. It has won several major prizes including the Australian Writers' Guild Award. Hotel Sorrento was made into a feature film in 1995 and then nominated for ten AFI Awards.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY


Born in Melbourne in 1957, Hannie Rayson is recognised as one of Australia's most significant playwrights. She was the joint recipient of the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award in 1996 and has won both the Victorian and NSW Premiers' Literary Awards.
