This one's worth kicking them out of the Caucus!

Achance Friday, June 26th at 7:42PM EDT (link)

Erick needs to get those phones working again and this time the pressure is on Boehner; if they won’t vote with us, we don’t want them, so they can have offices with no windows, seats that flush, and no staff - or they can make it official and become Democrats.

In Vino Veritas

There must be a price for their betrayal

Kyle-MI Friday, June 26th at 8:12PM EDT (link)

Agreed Achance. There is no excuse for them. This is the height of fiscal irresponsibility and it is essentially raising taxes. On top of it all, it is just stupid politics. They have provided cover for some of the blue dog Dems. It is like they want to stay in the minority.

Having carried a chit sheet or two,

Achance Friday, June 26th at 8:26PM EDT (link)

I well know that as soon as you have your 50% +1, you have a list of people that you release to go tend their own vegetables. You’re right, not only did they betray the Party, they gave cover to at least 8 “Blue Dogs” who can go back to the district and brag about their conservative vote.

In Vino Veritas

I watched the voting tally

Common_Cents Friday, June 26th at 8:47PM EDT (link)

You’d think the R betrayers would have waited until the end too but a few of them didn’t. I’d think they’d vote for it if votes were needed but a few of them were bold to vote for crap and trade right away in the vote. And then giving the FauxDogs cover.

When Obama wants your opinion, he’ll read it to you from his teleprompter.

Castle and Kirk Running for Senate

Swamp_Yankee Friday, June 26th at 7:43PM EDT (link)

That about ends it for them. But we need someone to pick off a Dem seat. More support for Simmons and the Colorado seat. Will someone please freaking run against Reid and Lincoln

Is Cornyn supporting them for Senate?

pilgrim Friday, June 26th at 7:46PM EDT (link)

It’s one thing to support a guy like Crist who raises taxes for his state after he said he wouldn’t, but these guys just voted for the largest tax ever for the entire country.

I Think Coryn Will

Swamp_Yankee Friday, June 26th at 7:49PM EDT (link)

He probably should as that’s his role. I dont think there are any conservatives even running in the primary. We are tallking about Obama’s seat and Illinois and Biden’s seat in Delaware. So, they are not really competitive. Its just a matter of replacing an F student with a D student.

But no one in the base will care. I dont think a single dollar will flow from out of state. All Obama and Biden have to do is show up. The Republican machines in those states are too small to compete.

And how much you wanna bet that each one of these fiscal traitors is pro-choice (except for Smith who I wouldn’t support anymore even if he *is* pro-life).

Good luck with having a go at Bono, but doesn’t she represent Palm Springs, the home of toasted oldie Republicans retired to the desert and a fairly large gay community?

She’ll have to step on a part of her anatomy a lot harder than this to get folks out in the low desert riled up I think, and old Sonny was political royalty in Palm Springs.

Good luck though.

So let me get this straight.

Lords86 Friday, June 26th at 7:55PM EDT (link)

Five Congressmen from Delaware, New Jersey and New York; one from Illinois and two from the Pacific coast have just screwed over Michigan one more time. It’s bad enough that our own Democrat congressman don’t have a clue about what they have just done to throw another pile of dirt on Michigan industry and our auto companies on life support, but to have eight of our own, who disregard common sense, share the shovel is particularly painful. Michigan thanks these eight Republicans for their complete lack of foresight in destroying any remaining manufacturing jobs in Michigan.

Michigan? Blah

Neil Stevens Friday, June 26th at 11:09PM EDT (link)

Michigan’s been doing itself in by voting for people like Granholm again, and again, and again.

I don’t have any sympathy for that state. You guys, collectively, made your own beds.

You also voted for Obama, so really, in every imaginable way you have this coming.

So does California, but I’m not making my state out to be a victim, heh.

already. Around where I live, it is no longer unusual to see a row of houses along the highway with grass and weeds up to the vacant windows. In my folks’ church in Nashville, they have a lot of congregants from Spring Hill where the GM plant will be closed soon enough. In our small weekly paper, there is a constant list of foreclosures. My husband was talking to a friend the other day who works for the local power company. It’s his job to go take down the electric meter when a customer can no longer pay their bill. My husband asked if it were the poorer people or the elderly who most often couldn’t pay. The answer was: “Nope, it’s most often those who live in the biggest and newest houses.”

I seem to remember a few “Family Obligations” coming and going while I was one of those “rough men who stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” In addition to the anniversaries (by the time I returned I had been deployed longer [15 months] than the time we had been together[13 months] in our marriage), birthdays, holidays, surgeries, my Grandmother passed away, my unit would have allowed me to leave but I had to weigh my love for her and for my family, the pain we all felt at her loss against my RESPONSIBILITY to the Paratroopers I led. There was ONLY ONE ANSWER, Do My Duty. I wasn’t the only one I know who made the same choice, in fact I don’t remember anyone making the opposite choice i did.

My oath was very similar to that which Congressmen take, to support and defend the Constitution. I guess there are oaths and there are oaths.

I give up. Most of us have been in a perpetual state of disgust for the past 8 months. The one bright spot? Knowing that men such as you fight for us with honor. Thank you so much for your service. You are a wonderful addition to RedState!

I believe this qualifies the majority of those voting to be birkenstock-wearing hippies. I too, know people who are very conservative as well as religious who live there, but the leftist tinge in presidential elections is confirmed.

Bottom line is I will work against him when he runs for statewide office. His election margins have slimmed down considerably lately, so it is clear, at least to me, he voted to save his own skin. Case closed.

TNJim Friday, June 26th at 8:15PM EDT (link)

There was NO middle class tax cut!!!!!!!!

These 8 “Republicans” just added the exclamation points to that statement. This bill will erase that so called tax cut if it passes the Senate, which it’s time to start shutting that switchboard down now.

I think we in TN can count on Alexander and Corker voting against it, but if you guys think someone from TN can influence senators from another state let me know. I think the main senate number in DC will say the same thing the house operators said today, “Oh, we’ve taken more calls from people for it.” Not sure I believe that.

people be “for it” when they don’t even know what’s IN it? Like you, I’m certain of Corker and fairly sure of Alexander, although you’re never guaranteed Lamar’s vote to come down on the conservative side.

By the way, speaking of Corker, I saw on the local news frorm Nashville this evening that the union guy from Spring Hill was lambasting Corker over the fact that Spring Hill’s GM plant didn’t get the bid on building whatever car they hoped to build there to keep people employed. It went to Michigan instead. I doubt there was ever a chance of a GM plant in a Red state getting the job. And it never seemed to occur to the union guy that it was HIS union cronies that brought this situation on themselves.

Exactly, Janis

Any blue state is going to get that kind of favoritism. Not only did TN go to McCain, but we had the audacity to put a majority of Republicans in the state house and senate. vote for this steaming pile of manure after listening to Boehner just read teh 300 page *ammendment* is beyond me.

I hope he gets his a** kicked either in the primary or the general.

not only did no one read it

It wasn’t even available to any average Rep on the floor who wanted to read it.

^5!

That’s the biggest fiasco of the whole thing. I doubt many Dims read it either, they were just following Pelosi blindly. Oh, and Obama, too.

Someone had to write it

I often think the people who write these bills (clerks, lawyers?) are more powerful than members of Congress themselves. They can sneak in whatever they want.

Congressman Smith

Dencal26 Friday, June 26th at 8:39PM EDT (link)

I live in Chris Smiths district. I am not sure why he would vote this way . His district other than Trenton tends to lean center-right. I think he made a huge mistake and will suffer the consequences on election day.

Don't know Smith,

redneck_hippie Friday, June 26th at 8:54PM EDT (link)

But, for example in Kirk’s district there a great many extremely wealthy people who are well educated. They must somewhat agree with fiscal conservatism to have elected an R. So if they are smart enough to understand economics and/or be pro-business, how the hell can they justify a ginormous tax on energy? Conclusion: We need our leadership to step up in a big way. Now.

Lots of emails...

grumpy_old_soldier Friday, June 26th at 8:48PM EDT (link)

I just emailed all of the loser Republicans who voted in favor of this loser piece of crap legislation, and told them that we will work to vote each of their traitorous, disloyal asses out of office.

I am so angry…

I see that McHugh...

The Grognard Friday, June 26th at 8:49PM EDT (link)

…gave his pay off for his nomination as Secretary of the Army. He makes me want to gag.

He geographically represents my district, but certainly does not represent the people in it. One of the counties he represents has the highest unemployment in the state, and his vote for cap and tax is going to do nothing more than drive more people out of the region. NY loses 5% of its population each year as it is, and as unemployment goes above 10% (which it will shortly), that rate is going to accelerate.

All of you folks in states that have low taxes and jobs, get ready for the influx of NY liberals!

This is why we need to hold the party’s feet to the fire. If they can’t whip their members to keep them for voting crap like this, we need new leadership and new blood. Or maybe a new party.

What was the name of that freeze-out list Erick came up with for the likes of the campaign saboteurs?

which Republican is running so we can take out Gerry Connolly VA-11...

DONTREADONME Friday, June 26th at 9:35PM EDT (link)

I will be making sure that the GOP candidate for VA-11 is well funded by me to unseat this waste of an individual. He is disgraceful, the email that was sent to me was garbage, I could just spit in this frauds face right now. VA-11 will go GOP in 2010, hopefully in time to stop this madness.

Anyone out there in these anti-Americans' districts...

On to the next battle - the Senate

Kyle-MI Friday, June 26th at 10:35PM EDT (link)

Here is a quick list of Redstate Dem Senators:
Begich - AK
Lincoln - AR
Pryor - AR
Landrieu - LA
Baucus - MT
Tester - MT
McCaskill - MO
Nelson - NE
Dorgon - ND
Conrad - ND
Byrd - WV
Rockefeller - WV

From conservative purple states:
Nelson - FL
Hagon - NC
Warner - VA
Webb - VA

I think we could even pull a few from midwest industrial blue states:
Bayh - IN (which could also be considered a conservative purple)
Levin - MI
Stabenow - MI
Brown - OH

OK, maybe not those last three, but we shouldn’t need them.

There should be more than enough here to offset Collins and Snowe. At first glance I don’t think this thing has a chance of passing let alone breaking a filibuster. Best to be prepared anyway and not assume anything.

Oops, wrong thread (n/t)

Sinkk irk!!!

Renascent Friday, June 26th at 10:50PM EDT (link)

Mark Kirk can kiss the Senate good-bye. I would have supported him enthusiastically. Now, win or lose, my energy and money will go to a conservative if possible, any opponent if necessary.

Silver Lining

Dencal26 Friday, June 26th at 11:52PM EDT (link)

Who would take the brunt of Cap and Trade policy?
Coal Miners who supported Obama and are concentrated in PA and Ohio

The Industrial Blue States like Michigan where Unemployment is high.

I think if Cap and Trade passes Senate we are looking at a GOP majority for decades with many Blue states flipping to red as soon as midterm elections. Add to that the destruction of Healthcare,

Sent My Rep, Reichert, a Note Yesterday

ewb Saturday, June 27th at 12:39PM EDT (link)

I hope many others did as well:

“First SCHIP, and now this?! What you did today, voting for that miserable pointless economy-killing boondoggle of a cap-and-trade bill, was just shameful. And unforgivable. As others have noted: ‘Never before have so few taken so much from so many for so little.’ We will now turn our attention to making sure this crap legislation dies the miserable death it deserves in the senate. But when we’re finished with that, I promise to turn all of my attention to making sure you never represent this fine district again. If my representative is going to destroy my district, my state, and my country by voting for pointless liberal statist policies, it would be better done with a “D” after their name so as not to confuse voters, and to avoid further soiling the already teetering Republican brand.”

Mad. As. Hell.

Congrats Aaron Schock, thumbs down Mark Kirk

mriggio Saturday, June 27th at 1:05PM EDT (link)

I just fired off a follow-up note to my Congressman, Aaron Schock, congratulating & thanking him for his no vote and asking him, if he happens to see Mark Kirk around campus, to remind him that I and my family will actively oppose him in any of his future electoral ambitions in Illinois. Since Kirk won’t accept out of district emails, perhaps a comment via his fellow Congressman will get through….

Joe Legal vs. Joe Illegal

herbalife Saturday, June 27th at 1:12PM EDT (link)

Alive and growing in every state… Especially CA…

Joe Legal vs. Joe Illegal

Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive for the State of California …

You have 2 families…”Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”. Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California .

“Joe Legal” works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted….”Jose Illegal” also works in construction, has “NO” Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.

Joe Legal…$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year

Now take 30% away for state federal tax

Joe Legal now has $31,231.00

Jose Illegal…$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00

per year

Jose Illegal pays no taxes…

Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00

Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage

$1000.00 per month

$12,000.00 per year

Joe Legal now has $19,231.00

Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year

Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00

Joe Legal makes too much money is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare

Joe Legal pays for food

$1,000.00 per month

$12,000.00 per year

Joe Legal now has $ 7,231.00

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare

Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00

Joe Legal pays rent of

$1,000.00 per month

$12,000.00 per year

Joe Legal is now in the hole

minus (-) $4,769.00

Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy

Jose Illegal pays rent

$500.00 per month

$6,000.00 per year

Jose Illegal still has $25,200.00

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches while Jose Illegal’s children get a government sponsored lunch.

Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal’s children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Don’t vote/support any politician that supports illegal aliens…

Its PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!
