Your morning fashion and beauty report: Mila Kunis, Jessica Simpson snag magazine covers, while Sports Illustrated's swimsuit 2011 issue's cover girl is Irina Shayk

Amila
Mila Kunis, fresh off her success in "Black Swan," seems to be everywhere. She's been one of the best-dressed at numerous awards shows, as the photograph here from the SAG Awards attests. And after a stunning cover for our own LA magazine this month, she's on the cover of the March issue of W, dressed in lingerie and feathers. [People]

AjessicaJessica Simpson, right, is on the cover of New York, not because of her singing/reality star career but because her fashion empire is going like gangbusters, with sales expected to rise above a billion dollars -- or about the same in volume as Michael Kors. [People]

Victoria Beckham, the Spice Girl-turned-fashion-designer, has been asked to send some pieces from her collection to princess-to-be Kate Middleton. Not for the wedding dress. Everything about that choice is still secret. But Kate is figuring out what (who?) to wear in the very public life she'll take on as a royal. [People]

Retailers are seeming optimistic, and that may mean more interesting fashion choices for the rest of us. One indication: Buyers at the recent L.A. market for the fashion industry were stretching out of their comfort zones to pick up new lines and unique merchandise. [WWD]

Emma Watson, at only 20, has been named a "style icon" by Elle magazine. [Telegraph]

I like Emma a lot, but I think Blake Lively has true icon status, now that Christian Louboutin has named a shoe after her. It's a colorful strappy heel. [Vogue UK]

Rumor has it that Demi Moore has dropped Rachel Zoe as her stylist in favor of Zoe's former assistant Brad Goreski. [New York Post]

Your morning fashion and beauty report: Farrah Fawcett's swimsuit goes to the Smithsonian, Jennifer Aniston debuts a new fragrance, Emmy Rossum has a new bag

Jennifer Aniston's new fragrance goes on sale Thursday at Sephora. It's called, ahem, Jennifer Aniston.  [WWD]

Emmy Rossum, currently starring on Showtime's "Shameless," teamed with Elie Tahari to design a handbag -- called The Emmy, of course -- that will be available in four sizes, ranging in price from $398 to $798. [InStyle]

While it's fairly common for actresses and models to have bags named after them, now a magazine editor has one too. Dylan Jones, the editor of British GQ, has teamed up with Anya Hindmarch to create a men’s bag, called the Dylan Jones. The bag is described as a sleek attaché case in natural brown leather, lined in woven jacquard and bound in grosgrain ribbon. Inside, there are pockets for a BlackBerry, business cards, keys and a tablet computer. The bag will retail for 1,095 pounds, or $1,760 at current exchange rates. [WWD]

We've told you that flats will be in style for spring, but here's another wrinkle: "flatforms," which marry the ease of a flat with the height of a platform shoe. Kind of like wearing a sandal with a shoe box attached to the bottom. [Telegraph]

Your morning fashion and beauty report: Lots of chic maternity wear in our future, thanks to Victoria Beckham, Rachel Zoe, Jane Krakowski, Natalie Portman

Your morning fashion and beauty report: Yes, Virginia, there is a French Maid Barbie. Plus Hamish Bowles receives icon status and Hilary Swank dreams of apparel deals.

Ahamish
Our favorite fashion doll, Barbie, figured on Thursday night's "Million Dollar Money Drop," when show host Kevin Pollak asked which doll was never made: French Maid Barbie, Sunday School Barbie or Lingerie Barbie? The correct answer: Sunday School Barbie -- which should have been easy, because we all know Barbie loves to dress up in fancy clothes not of the going-to-Sunday-meetin' variety. And yes, there is a French Maid Barbie. Mattel stopped manufacturing it (her?) after more than 5,000 were produced but  collectors can still buy them on Amazon for $168.88. [Epoch Times]

Hamish Bowles (pictured), Vogue's longtime European editor at large, will be honored next year with the 2011 Pratt Institute Fashion Icon Award. It is scheduled to be bestowed at an event April 27. [WWD]

Have you noticed how celebrities are surprising us this season by wearing icy pastels? It struck me when I saw photos of Kate Bosworth in a T-shirt and mint green skirt at the Hollywood Style Awards. But Katy Perry, Linda Evangelista and Jennifer Lopez have all been seen in similar hues.   [WWD]

Celebrity deal of the day: Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank has a deal in development for an athletic apparel collection. [WWD]

'Plus-sized' model Crystal Renn looks decidedly 'model-sized' in Zac Posen's new look book

RennCrystal Renn, a former traditional-sized model who became the poster girl for plus-sized modeling after gaining weight and writing about her struggle with anorexia, is still ruffling feathers for seemingly dropping the pounds that make her "plus."

Renn, who co-stars in designer Zac Posen's pre-fall 2011 look book, was never plus-sized in the traditional, size-10-to-14 sense (she claims to be a size 8), but looks even tinier in the new photographs -- a fact that hasn't escaped chatty fashion watchers online.

And although clearly it's Renn's prerogative to weigh whatever she wants to, she's come to symbolize the weight debate raging in the fashion industry -- and has even gone on talk shows, including "The View," to diss photographers and Photoshop-happy editors for trying to make her look thinner in print.

She hasn't publicly commented on the new photos, but she told the Guardian last year, "If they judge me for not being big enough, is that not the same as judging me for not being thin enough? When do we stop? My size shouldn't matter. Let's get rid of straight-size and plus-size."

Your morning fashion and beauty report: Jessica Simpson's engagement ring from Eric Johnson. Contenders for Britain's 'most fashionable.'

The British Fashion Council is allowing the public to vote on who should be honored as London's most creative style ambassador at the council's annual gala Dec. 7. Suggested contenders include Alexa Chung,  Stella McCartney, Emma Watson, Georgia May Jagger, Lily Cole and Tilda Swinton. [Telegraph]

Supermodel Iman says the reality show she co-hosts with designer Isaac Mizrahi is more realistic than other fashion-related TV offerings because the contestants compete to design collections, not unrelated outfits. "The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection" airs on Bravo on Tuesdays, and besides seeing the contestants' designs, viewers get to see Iman in gorgeous clothes, too. [StyleList]

Your morning fashion and beauty report: The Olsens add handbags. Marc Jacobs adds books. And Lady Gaga adds some spark to GQ Italia cover.

Ashley

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, already proven designers with three successful lines, will add handbags and eventually shoes to their luxury line, The Row. Look for the bags to hit stores next fall. [People]

Women's Wear Daily has been doing all kinds of things to celebrate its centennial this year, not the least of which was publishing a special collectible edition, which hit newsstands Nov 1. Book Marc, one of the latest concepts by always inventive designer Marc Jacobs, has taken over the old Marc by Marc Jacobs Accessories space on Melrose in Los Angeles. The transformation was lightning quick and probably inspired by the success of Book Marc's initial store, which opened in New York in September. The shop offers an upscale mix of readable material, such as coffee table design tomes, out-of-print and limited editions and poetry, along with Marc Jacobs' branded book bags and other paraphernalia. [Mondette]

Your morning fashion and beauty report: Kate Moss launches last line for Topshop. Taylor Swift signs a fragrance deal. And Emma Watson covers British Vogue.

Kate

About 200 invited shoppers crowded into Topshop's London flagship Monday night for the launch of what is being billed as model Kate Moss' "last official collection" for the retailer. The wardrobe group includes 109 styles -- including some of her past bestsellers and some limited-edition pieces -- and goes on sale at Topshops worldwide Tuesday. But wait. I'm confused. Topshop top guy Sir Philip Green says he and Moss will keep working together. He says the collection still works and that his business relationship with Moss is as strong as ever. But apparently they both need a break. [WWD]

Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration on Tuesday plans to introduce six initiatives to bolster New York City's fashion industry, already one of the most vibrant in the world. [WWD] (Subscription required.) It makes me wonder what Los Angeles could do with similar municipal support. Our mayor told Los Angeles Times writer Adam Tschorn recently that the city is supportive of the industry -- as long as someone else takes the initiative.

Hannah MacGibbon won "Designer of the Year" at the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards. Among other recipients: Emma Thompson for acting, Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet for innovating, Annie Lennox for lifetime achievement and Manolo Blahnik for making it as a man in a woman's world! [The Telegraph]

Distancing herself from long-time character Hermione, "Harry Potter's" Emma Watson first cut her hair and now looks fresh and glamorous on the cover of December's British Vogue. [Vogue UK]

L.A. fashion journalist Monica Corcoran Harel collaborated with "Mad Men" costume designer Janie Bryant on the just-published "The Fashion File: Advice, Tips and Inspiration from the Fashion Designer of 'Mad Men.'" When she's not busy working, Harel likes to go to Lucques for steak frites or the Cube for pasta, shop at Veno Cada, or relax at Runyon Canyon, she tells Mondette.

Plus-size model Crystal Renn (she's a size 10) has some ideas about how to get larger models onto runways --- like making sample clothes in size 8 instead of size 2. To show just how whack today's modeling scene is, 1980s supermodel Paulina Porizkova stood side by side with Renn at a panel at the Glamour Women of the Year conference Monday in New York. Porizkova says she is the same size today as she was when she modeled swimsuits several decades ago. If anything, she looked larger than Renn. "This is a plus-size model in 2010," she said, gesturing toward Renn. She pointed at herself and continued, "This is an average-size model in 1980. Times have changed." [The Cut]

Your morning fashion and beauty report: Kim Kardashian is a serious fashion shopper. Heidi Klum is serious about Halloween. 'Project Runway' fans are seriously unhappy.

Kim

Kim Kardashian says that when she's at fashion shows -- as she often is --she's there as a buyer for her boutique as well as for herself. For those who can't get enough of the Kardashians, Kim and sister Kourtney have a new E! network show, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," lined up to start in January. [WWD]

Heidi Klum and husband Seal are noted for their annual Halloween party and inventive costumes, and they didn't disappoint this weekend. Klum towered over her guests dressed as an 8-foot-tall fuchsia-haired, purple superhero. The height was thanks to 2-foot boot extensions. Seal wore a metallic muscle suit, portraying the Silver Surfer. [StyleList]

Maybe the party helped Klum forget the controversy still swirling around last week's season finale of "Project Runway," when a divided panel of judges picked Gretchen Jones as the winner over Andy South and fan-favorite Mondo Guerra. In an interview, Jones took the outcome in stride, but commenters throughout the blogosphere are not happy. [Zap2It]

Lanvin threw a blowout of a Halloween party over the weekend at its new Madison Avenue boutique. There were celebs (Janet Jackson, Anne Hathaway, Padma Lakshmi), 2,500 balloons and seasonal snacks (sour green candied apples, Limoncello popsickles). Artistic director Alber Elbaz was a pussycat in a crystal-encrusted mask, and scattered around the store were the "Lanvin Dolls," a group of drag queens dressed in Elbaz's designs. Scary. [WWD]

Also at the Lanvin soiree, Rachel Zoe was dressed as -- Rachel Zoe. No time for a costume. She said the swirling rumors that she's pregnant aren't true. Meanwhile, her former assistant, Brad Goreski, was hilarious, dressed as 14-year-old fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson. [The Cut]

California girl Hailey Clausen was walking the runway in Los Angeles for martinMARTIN in spring 2009, and just 18 months later she was walking for Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Versace and Christian Dior in Paris. And she just shot a spread for Vogue Italia. Not bad for a 15-year-old. [Mondette]

If you're a fashion designer, you'd better look stylish ... and many of them do. FabSugar cites some of the most chic, including Rebecca Minkoff, Vanessa Bruno, Cynthia Rowley and Georgina Chapman.

What to do if your hairstylist ups the price? It happens, especially in salons with a tiered payment system, in which the more skilled/experienced/sought-after stylists command a higher price. If it happens to you, there are ways to cope -- taking advantage of free bang trims, for instance, or changing to a low-maintenance style, Or even just basking in the knowledge that your stylist was good enough to get promoted. Model Jessica Stam designs a line for RACHEL Rachel Roy

Stamrachelroy

There’s undoubtedly a current obsession with the “model off duty” look. Every style website and blog has a section dedicated to the slightly disheveled and understated glam look that supermodels don when not walking the runway. And more and more models are coming out with clothing lines (most recently Claudia Schiffer, and don’t forget Erin Wasson’s jewelry or Kate Moss’ soon-to-be defunct line for Top Shop).

Now model Jessica Stam has collaborated with designer Rachel Roy,  designing a four-piece collection for Roy’s lower-priced line RACHEL Rachel Roy carried at Macy’s. The handful of pieces, consisting of an army-inspired belt, a chain-strap bucket bag, a check print cardigan and black skinny jeans, launches Wednesday in Macy’s stores and on rachelroy.com

“I have always loved Jessica’s unique look off the runway," Roy says. "Her sharp eye for trends lead to the design aesthetic for this limited collection.”

They are certainly cute and basic staple items, which unlike other model-designed clothing out there (Kate Moss) may look as flattering on mere mortals as they do on supermodels.

The Jessica Stam for RACHEL Rachel Roy collection ranges from $49 for the belt to $199 for the bag.

FNO TV: Supermodels Gisele, Naomi tapped to trot

Rage_models
Gisele Bündchen and Naomi Campbell are among the top models tapped to trot down the runway at Lincoln Center for "Fashion's Night Out: The Show," at Lincoln Center on Sept. 7.

Organizers of the global shopping extravaganza have announced that more than 100 of modeling's elite, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Donaldson, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, Angela Lindvall, Sasha Pivovarova, Coco Rocha, Bündchen and Campbell will help present the hottest fall trends (as determined by organizer Vogue magazine, naturally).

Although your chances of actually scoring a ticket to the event are about as good as getting that brand-new Birkin bag you've always wanted, you can get your fashion fix streamed to you live -- Vogue editor at large André Leon Talley and Vogue.com contributor Hanneli Mustaparta will be hosting a live webcast of the event at CBS.com/FNO starting at 4 p.m. PDT.

The CBS special itself is scheduled to air on TV a week later, Sept. 14, at 10 p.m. Luckily, neither of those dates conflict with the actual Fashion's Night Out -- which takes place in cities around the world on Sept. 10 -- so there's no excuse not to get out there and spend.

Plus-size website OneStopPlus.com taps supermodel Emme as its new face

Supermodel EmmeOneStopPlus.com, one of the most comprehensive fashion resources for plus-size fashion online, has announced that supermodel Emme has signed on as the public face of the brand.

Emme, along with Kate Dillon and, more recently, Crystal Renn, is one of the top-earning plus-size models in fashion -- and almost single-handedly pioneered the concept of the size-12 model in the industry. The 47-year-old is currently the host of the Fox plus-size reality dating show "More to Love," and writes avidly about plus-size-related issues (like self-esteem) for the Huffington Post, among others.

As OneStopPlus.com's new ambassador, Emme  will act as the public media liaison for the company and will be a presence on Facebook and Twitter and in blog videos (think Q&A snippets talking about fashion).

"Emme ... has revolutionized how plus sizes are represented within the fashion industry, personifying the beauty of and serving as a powerful voice for curvy women in America," said Stephanie Sobel, president of OneStopPlus.com Group.

"She will undoubtedly bring a great deal to our brand."
