Kingdom, Qatar sign four agreements

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and Qatar signed four agreements on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in the areas of fighting drugs and protection of environment, during a meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council in Riyadh.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, and Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Addressing the council, Prince Sultan called for greater security coordination between the two countries. He emphasized the need for joint work in different areas to confront challenges.

Prince Sultan expressed his happiness over the progress of bilateral relations and said he was looking forward that Saudi-Qatari relations would reach greater heights in the coming years, benefiting peoples of the two GCC countries.

Also on Tuesday, Prince Sultan met with Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and discussed prospects of strengthening cooperation. Earlier on arrival at the airport, Gonul was received by Prince Khaled bin Sultan, assistant minister of defense and aviation for military affairs.
