The Robert Emmet Society is based in Petoskey, Michigan, the county seat of Emmet County. Its mission is to create awareness among the local population about Irish Patriot Robert Emmet (1778 - 1803), the namesake of Emmet County, which is located in northwestern Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan. The Society's major purpose is the annual awarding of a scholarship to a student at North Central Michigan College for one semester of study at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. Information on the scholarship competition, now in its 13th year, may be obtained by emailing the Society, info@emmetsociety.org.

New Irish Music Study scholarship Announced
- In honor of the late Ned Fenlon who championed the cause of the Robert Emmet Society and was a lover of Irish Music, a Scholarship Fund has been established. The award will provide
financial assistance to advance a student's music education.The annual cash award will go to one student each year following a musical competition.  The competition if open to all Emmet County students from grade 6 through community college.
