Bill would have made TSA pat-downs a sex crime.
House speaker William O’Brien says he’s pleased a house committee has opted to hold onto a bill that would have made TSA pat-downs a sex crime. O’Brien says lawmakers need more time to work out the best response to what he sees as egregious conduct by the federal government.
“The TSA has become abusive in its security procedures and a state legislature just like congress need to take a look at this and make recommendations.”
This proposal, dubbed the “don’t touch my junk” bill by its supporters, has drawn national attention. Critics say the measure is unneeded and amounts to state interference with federal policy. Before voting to hold measure for more work, the criminal justice committee rejected a move to kill it outright.
