Noko Matlou scored her fifth goal in as many matches to allow Banyana Banyana to beat Tunisia 1-0 in their first leg fixture in the Olympic Qualifier. Played in front of a big crowd at the King Zwelithini Stadium, in Umlazi, near Durban. Banyana Banyana had the most of the possession in the first half, Matlou had the ball in the net after 15 minutes of play, but the goal was disallowed, for offside.
The goal, scored on (47’) minutes after a fine run on the right by Matlou ended with her shooting past Tunisian’s goalkeeper and captain Rabia Gargouch. Now the South Africans are preparing to pack their bags for the return leg in Tunisia on April 17.
The victory was the fifth consecutive triumph, since Mkhonza took charge of the national senior women's team shortly before Christmas 2010.
