    Mother's Day 2011 is on Sunday, May 8. Mother's Day in Reno is full of opportunities to treat Mom and show her what a special lady she is. Her is a sample of potential Mother's Day activities - Arts in Bloom Festival, Mother's Day Trunk Show at the Nevada Museum of Art, the Reno River Festival, International Choral Festival, Quidam by Cirque du Soleil.     Mother's Day brunch is a tradition enjoyed by many Moms. The Reno / Tahoe has plenty of choices for those wanting to take here out for a dining treat.

    Cirque du Soleil bringing Quidam to Reno

    The Cirque du Soleil show Quidam is coming to Lawlor Events Center at the University of Nevada, Reno. Quidam is a fantasy of fun for families and children of all ages. Quidam has toured the world since 1996 and entertained over 10 million people. There will be several Quidam performances running from May 4 through May 8.

    Taking Mom to Quidam is an idea for a unique Mother's Day activity, and it just so happens that Cirque du Soleil has a special ticket package with families in mind. Check out my Quidam article for more information about times and tickets.

    Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Reno - Ole!

    Reno's top Cinco de Mayo celebration for 2011 is an outdoor fiesta at the Grand Sierra Resort. At northern Nevada's biggest annual celebration of Mexican heritage, admission is $1 and parking is free. This family-friendly event will feature Latin bands and musicians, amateur boxing, Mexican dancing horse performances and a playground for children.

    Lots of vendor booths will provide food from top local Mexican restaurants, arts and crafts, imported jewelry, and more items for the entire family. Cinco de Mayo at the Grand Sierra will be on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
