Beauty of race course to be enhanced

Special Correspondent

Udhagamandalam: Efforts will be made to spruce up the race course here, said the Secretary, Madras Race Club (MRC), B.K. Amanullah Khan, while speaking to presspersons here on Thursday.

Adverting to a suggestion made to form a garden inside the course, he said that it would be carefully considered.

Pointing out that a garden had been laid by the Department of Horticulture about two decades ago, he said that since some of its features turned out to be dangerous to the horses it had not been maintained properly.

However, ways to keep the 55 acre course attractive round the year would be evolved.

When asked whether this year's racing season, which marked the 125th year of racing in Ooty would be commemorated in a fitting manner, Mr. Khan said that the issue would be taken up with the management of the MRC.
