Whether you're in very spring-like, scorching hot temps or somewhere in between, hopefully getting into a swimsuit and hitting the beach or pool for the day is somewhere in your near future. This time of year there's a rise in bikini wax appointments because it lasts so much longer than shaving. Not to mention, since waxing removes hair from the root you won't get that 'shadow' that's often left after shaving. Of course you'll have the greatest chance for the best results by going to a skilled technician.
But did you know there are easy things you can do before to help prevent needless pain, redness and irritation? Also it's good to know what you should and shouldn't do post-care, immediately after and between appointments to keep the ingrown hair and pimples away.
We have some help:

Often electric razors won't get you as close of a shave as a manual razor. But you can save a lot over buying tons of cartridge refills and pricey shaving cream. They're also great for a quick shave.
Nicole recently picked up Clio Palmperfect Electric Shaver. It sells for about $10 and comes in different designs. See if this one does the job and if it might be good for speedy hair removal in her review.

The perfect dress, makeup, shoes, hair, jewelry and date. The flurry and pressure to look flawless for prom has many teens (and their parents) spending loads of time, energy and money making this happen. I didn't realize how far this is taken, until I saw on ad on craigslist offering services of a 'prom planner'.
At a recent waxing class the instructor said a lot of girls are getting more than just a brow shaping for prom. Because of completely strapless or barely-there-straps of formal dresses, they want hairless arms and are having them waxed too.
Before you go removing hair, here are some things to consider:
- Use extra precaution if you've been tanning. Wait at least 24 hours after tanning to get waxed. Don't tan for the next two days after a wax. You may need to hold off for waxing or tanning if you're still pink or feeling sensitive. If you bleach hair anywhere, be aware it can also temporarily lighten skin that area. Tanning is very drying, so be sure to lotion up regularly as it's easier to wax hydrated skin.
- Don't get your first brow wax. If you've never had your brows waxed, now is not the time to experiment in case you get really red or break out. Tweeze at home (here's some help) or get a professional tweezing. While you can still get irritated or break out, sugaring is gentler.
- Don't wax at home. Unless you've waxed yourself with great success before, it's not the area to save money. You could be left with red skin and broken hair and be forced to shave. If your heart is set on waxing, make an appointment.

Many of the emails in my inbox are asking me what I think about certain hair removal products, specifically ones claiming permanent hair removal or reduction.
One of the more recent emails I've gotten inquired about the Verseo eGlide (compare prices), calling itself the first Roller Electrolysis System for under $100.
I haven't tried the product, but I bet some of my readers have. We would love to hear you thoughts about this system and how it has worked out for you. Please leave it in the hair removal forum.
