I've had more fun with this game than with most of the retail releases I've played lately. It fun and challenging without being boring.

Everyone go buy it so they make more. :D

Ironically for you, this game was a retail release for DS back in December 2009.

It was fun to play then so I assume its still fun to play now. I wonder if they decided to make it an arcade game because not enough people bought it the first time, or a lot of people bought it the first time and they want to expand the audience

@Courtney For hipsters maybe.

If you weren't born before 1960, then you don't drink Scotch on the rocks unless you think someone is watching. Or you wanna "try" and impress a bartender.

Nothing wrong with a melon ball. I prefer Sam Adams, or SoCo and Lime, but if the man likes tasty alcohol, more power to him.

Maybe he will pair all his reviews with girly drinks. I recommend a white wine spritzer with peach schnapps while playing Mortal Kombat. Or how about some cherry vodka and lemonade during Arkham City?

I don't know what to tell you. Scotch tastes terrible.

Honestly, if there IS a king of liqour, it's tequila, and that's only if you can find a girl that will let you lick salt off her, and suck a lime out of her mouth.

Regardless of reason, you gotta admit that it is pretty ballsy coming from someone named Courtney.

If I had to choose, I'd say I'm a "Jack, neat" kind of guy, even though I usually drink gallons of beer and leave it at that.

Nice call on the tekila, BTW.

I gave my neighbor a glass of scotch one night, his first ever, and his comment was, "I don't think that I've ever needed a drink so bad that I would want to drink this."

It's most definitely an acquired taste.

I loved this game, and I enjoyed the boss battles quite a bit too. Mixed up the gameplay nicely, in my view.

Made me feel like I was playing Puzzle Quest again, which none of the other puzzle game RPG hybrids since has been able to do.

I tried the demo for that one, but I didn't enjoy it very much. I felt very "separated" from the actual battle. In Puzzle Quest, and this game, the Monster you fight actively interacts with your game board frequently. Puzzle Quest you shared the board, in this one enemy attacks and even formation placement effects your board and where you need to place things.

Maybe I just didn't get deep enough in Gyromancer... but this game caught me unaware with the demo, causing me to buy and play it immediately. Gyromancer didn't have that immediate appeal for me.

By far the best game I've gotten from PSN in a lkong time, and it easily competes with full-priced retail titles for length and quality. I'm at the final boss in the campaign and just short of 40 hours in, and that's without figuring in some of the optional puzzle battles (which you can go back to) as well as the up-to-4-player multiplayer!

Fantastic game, and I hope just the first of many like it!!!!

I haven't explored the multiplayer yet so I can't confirm 4-player, but that's what I read somewhere anyway. But even 2-player I'm certain would be entertaining for a very long time.

It's hard to know what to think of a glowing endorsement from someone who hates the genre. It seems like a neat game, but now I'm not sure honestly. 25 hour campaign sounds nice though.

Perhaps because of the nature of the games mechanics being so friendly. I'm like him in that I'm not a TBRPG person so for me, it was nice to read this review knowing the person writing it likely has the same reservations I would have going into playing something like this. And now I'm interested in it.

I would agree that normally I like to have someone reviewing a genre that not only has knowledge of it but actual playing history with it but I think because this TBRPG has a great opportunity to reach people who wouldn't normally pay attention to it, they had someone like that review it. For me, it was a successful review but I can see certainly see others who are into the genre wanting more details. A lot of sites have reviewed this game so maybe check some of them out as well. I know I have my own critics I like to follow because I know their preferred genres or that we enjoy the same aspects in games, or mechanics, etc.

But i have 2 loves now in this genre Valkyria Chronicles and now this game. I love the Advance Wars series and this has a tinge of similarity (and certainly the addictiveness!)

I'm no hipster and find Scotch and ice as a perfectly good drink. Also, what the heck is a hipster other than some definition. I've never met one in person. They're so mysterious. Also, they must all live in New York and Cali.

I give you...Hipsters.

http://www.latfh.com/

Obviously what you like to drink is a matter of personal preference. I Like to drink Bloody Mary's on occasion, because i like the spicy taste, and a little bit of vodka never hurt anyone.

However my point still stands, that no one likes Scotch. If you say you do, it's probably not to far off base that you like Scotch because it makes you either look "sophisticated" or if you've ever walked into a shitty dive bar and ordered a 12 year, you do so in order to portray yourself as a "Connoisseur"

People drank Scotch back in the day, because all alcohol tasted like shit, so they just picked the one that tasted like the least amount of shit.

@JohnoBoy I'm scared of the YLOD and thought about buying the warranty extension offered to Playstation Plus members. I hear of one more incident and I'm shelling out $44.95 for peace of mind.

On topic, I think I'm going to get clash of heroes. I have $3 credit and Playstation Plus members get a discount.

@dragunrising If you have one of the fat consoles and use it often I'd recommend paying the extra for extended warranty. I had mine for a little over 3 years (a 60GB European model) and if I had the option to pay for extended warranty for the price of less than one game I would've gladly done so. I'm getting a slim model now and hopefully it'll last me to the end of this generation
.
And, on topic, I do recommend the game, I've only invested in it a few hours on but it seems to deliver a good value for the asking price. If you do get it, feel free to add me on PSN (ID same as username here) so we can battle :)

I'd really like to know more about the features of this version over the DS version that I already love--besides the polished visuals, how different is it? I heard they'd changed up some of the character abilities, how different are we talking here?

In the demo I noticed that Anwen's power now shoots three arrows down three adjacent rows, withthe middle one doing more damage than the flanks (I think). Presumably they no longer do godly damage.

I dunno. The game was fun until the demon level (#4) where lucky drops of minions became more important than strategy. OR, I guess, strategy became more important than fun. Dying until you memorize a movement pattern is not fun...

A really great game from Capy; loved Critter Crunch, and now they release two great games (Sword & Sworcery on iPhone and Clash of Heroes HD on PSN) within a month!

My only complaint was that the menus and the fonts are weirdly low-resolution. Hopefully they fix them to all be 1080p native in the upcoming patch.
