Welcome to the Michigan State University and Edward W. Sparrow Hospital Infectious Disease Fellowship Program Home Page.
Our program was established in 2006 and is jointly run by Michigan State University and Sparrow Hospital. It has received full accreditation and our next site visit is expected in 2011. Michigan State University faculty supervise fellows on daily inpatient rounds and in the outpatient clinic. Brief biographical statements are included under the tab “Faculty”. Fellows are also taught by adjunct faculty from Sparrow on the Infection Control and Microbiology rotations. Sparrow Hospital is a 550 bed regional referral center and fellows see a wide range of infectious disease problems. Laboratory facilities include PCR diagnostics in addition to traditional microbiologic methods. MSU Medical students and residents are part of the ID rounding team and fellows are required to teach and provide leadership for these learners. Fellows will participate in research during their time at MSU/EWSH and experts in the fields of clinical research, antibiotic pharmacodynamics, antifungal therapeutics, and gram positive infections are active in the group. Other experts are on campus at MSU and collaborative projects are possible.
