After making his first appearance in May 1939, Batman and his alter-ego playboy millionaire Bruce Wayne and sidekick Robin, have been in numerous comic books, TV series, cartoons and of course movies. Batman was originally known as the Bat-Man, he's also been called the Cape Crusader and the Dark Knight.

And what was the most expensive piece of comic art to sell at auction so far? The original art shown above from issue #2 DC 1986.

Pawn Queens on TLC Tonight

The newest television show geared to collectors starts tonight on TLC. Chicago businesswomen Minda and Nikki run a pawn shop that caters to women, dealing with stuff like jewelry, Barbie dolls and antiques.

From TLC:
Each episode reveals what's involved in the pawning business and features Minda and Nikki struggling to debunk the stereotype that the pawn business is just a man's world. With their two business partners, Greg and Tom, they pawn, purchase and sell anything in order to help their fledgling company stay afloat.

Frankoma Pottery Goes on the Auction Block

Not just a few pieces, but the whole company. It's been a troubled history in recent years with several changes of ownership. It's a sad ending for collectors and especially for those of us in Oklahoma who were happy to have the iconic company nearby (figuratively speaking). According to the newspaper article the name Frankoma and molds will be sold in a separate auction from the buildings, assets and inventory on hand.
