National Defence
Symbol of the Government of Canada

The Directorate – Military Training & Cooperation (DMTC) is one of Canada’s primary tools of military diplomacy. Through our three pillars, we provide English/French language, staff/professional development, and peace support operations training to approximately 1,200 students annually from more than 62 member states.

DMTC’s mission is to develop the policy governing the Department of National Defence’s training and cooperation relations with foreign militaries among non-NATO developing countries and to direct its implementation.

As part of the implementation "tool box", DMTC is responsible for the direction and implementation of the Military Training and Cooperation Program (MTCP), as well as all other supplementary contribution funding mechanisms to foster cooperative defence relations with the armed forces of non-NATO developing countries.
