Important Updates for CareFirst BlueChoice Members
If you participate in the CareFirst BlueChoice Opt Out Plus Open Access plan through Georgetown University, you should have received new member ID cards in the mail.
These new ID cards should be used whenever you seek care. If you are going to see a provider who has your information on file, please let them know that any claims should be submitted to the address indicated on these new cards.
Although your member ID number remains the same, please note that the alpha prefix has changed to XIK, directing claims to a new service center. If you are filing an out-of-network claim for services received in 2010, please use the alpha prefix (XIC) found on your old ID card. This will help to expedite the processing of your claim.
Also, please note that there is a new CareFirst Member Services phone number for Georgetown University employees. You can find the number on the back of your new ID card; it is 1-888-567-9887.
Didn't receive a new ID card? Call Member Services or log on to "My Account" on the CareFirst web page to download a temporary card (by doing that a new card will automatically be sent to you).
