Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Hanifah Haji Aman at the State Palace on Thursday agreeing to end the tension on cultural heritage dispute, Indonesian presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said here.

The two leaders promised to sustain good relation of the two countries, and Malaysia agreed to look after the sensitivity of the Indonesian people, the spokesman said.

Tension had risen after a discovery channel in Malaysia put a popular Balinese dance of Pendet dance at the country's tourism advertisement in August.

The welcome dance performed by women in Balinese costume appeared in an advertisement that was aired several times in Malaysia, suggesting that the dance is part of the country's cultural heritage.

Malaysian authorites explained that the entry of the dance at the ad was not done by the government, it sparked protest in Jakarta against Malaysian government.

"Malaysian foreign minister agreed that the two governments must keep the good relation and to pay attention on sensitive issues," said Dino.

Datuk Aman met his Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirajuda at his office Thursday morning before meeting president Susilo.
