FIDE ALBUMS

The World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC) publishes collections of the best chess compositions from three year periods. Now there are 19 such FIDE-ALBUMS. The first one from the years 1956-58 was published in 1961 and the newest from the years 1998-2000 in October 2007. The total amount of compositions in all Albums is 18751 by nearly 2000 authors..

Nowadays there are nine sections in the Album:

3-movers
moremovers
endgame studies
selfmates
helpmates in 2
helpmates in 2.5 and longer
fairy chess
retro and mathematical problems

There are three judges in each section. Each judge may give 0-4 points to the problems. The compositions with at least 8 points are selected to the Album. Instructions to directors and judges.

International titles for composers are granted according to the Album points. One point is given for each Album problem (1,67 points for endgame studies). In joint compositions the points are divided by the number of composers. The limits are:

FIDE-Album 2001 - 2003 can be ordered now. 700 pages, 1349 diagrams, indexes, register, 600 copies blue clothbound as usual, price 50 euro (post free).
