Aesir

In nordic mythology, the gods were divided in two groups:
- the Aesir = war-deities
- the Vanir = fertility-deities

Once, the Aesir were in war with the Vanir. For more info 'bout that see Aesir-Vanir-War.

The name "Aesir" comes from "Asian", Snorri couldn't call them "gods", cause of the catholic censorship.

The Aesir lived in Asgard and named (according to Snorri):
- Bragi
- Forseti
- Freyr
- Heimdall
- Hönir
- Loki
- Njörd
- Thor
- Tyr
- Ull
- Vali
- Vidar

And the Ásynjur (female gods) named:
- Freyja
- Frigg
- Fulla
- Gefion
- Gerd
- Idun
- Nanna
- Sigyn

The Rune associated with the Aesir (and Odin, Wind) was Ansuz.
