It's about time that we have a network media player to rival the picture and sound quality of a Blu-ray Disc. The WD TV Live Hub is a stunning performer that comes close.

The newest media player in Western Digital's WD TV Live line has been named the Live "Hub" because it is more than a network media player. It is also a media server with an internal 1TB hard drive. You can use the WD TV Live Hub as a dumping ground to store media, rather than using network attached storage (NAS) or an external hard drive for your network's central media library. For more details and perspective on this exciting product, check out the review by About.com contributing writer, Barb Gonzalez

However, the HD output resolution of the Roku box does not look that great, especially when compared to HDTV broadcasts, Blu-ray Discs, or even upscaled DVD. The Roku offers both wired and wireless internet connection options. However, although the Roku box connects to the internet via a home network, it does not access content stored on your PC or MAC, or portable USB devices. 12. Boxee Box by D-Link

Boxee Box by D-LinkPhoto (c) D-Link
The Boxee Box by D-Link connects you with friends to see what TV shows, movies and online videos that they are watching and recommending. Boxee's approach to a network media player/media streamer is as unique as its oddly-shaped design. Boxee lists what your Facebook and/or Twitter friends are watching, as well as displays popular recommendations from other Boxee users. Boxee's other unique feature is its ability to find specific TV shows and movies on the web. Unfortunately, the results are limited because the Boxee Box by D-Link has yet to work out deals with Netflix, Hulu, Disney and most TV networks. Still, Boxee's performance and content make it a great network media player addition to your home theater. For more details, read a review of the Boxee Box, as reported by About.com contributing writer, Barb Gonzalez.
