Norma Joy McDonald Dies; Was Volunteer, Navy Wife

Norma Joy McDonald, 64, the wife of a retired Navy four-star admiral and an active member of service wives and volunteer organizations, died of cancer July 24 at Bethesda Navy Hospital.

Mrs. McDonald, who was a native and resident of Arlington, was a 1942 graduate of Washington-Lee High School. She and Wesley L. McDonald married in June 1946, after the future admiral's graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. A daughter said her parents had been high school sweethearts.

Mrs. McDonald accompanied her husband to posts across the country. After her children grew up, she traveled extensively with her husband in Europe and Latin America.
