Jake Lloyd Gets to the Point

Email Archives
May 10, 1999
The 10-year-old star of Episode I, Jake Lloyd has a style all his own. In the midst of many esoteric and complex answers to press questions heard from various individuals at the Phantom Menace press event in New York City, Jake typically got right to the point. Here are a few highlights:

ON THE EXPERIENCE OF MAKING EPISODE I
It was probably one of the best films I've ever done.

ON WORKING WITH GEORGE
Working with him is awesome!

ON WORKING IN TUNISIA
It was really hot. I have pretty fun memories -- except for the time when they tried to buy my sister. Other than that it was really fun.

ON HIS FAVORITE CLASSIC TRILOGY CHARACTER
Darth Vader. Vader has always been a good guy to me. Think about it -- he was the only one who could destroy the emperor in the end. He's always been the coolest one there.

ON HIS FAVORITE EPISODE I CHARACTER
My favorite characters are Jar Jar Binks and Darth Maul. Ray Park (who plays Darth Maul) is an excellent swordsman.

ON HIS FAVORITE PART OF WORKING ON EPISODE I
The first day of shooting. That's when I knew I really was in Star Wars.

ON HIS LEAST FAVORITE PART OF WORKING ON EPISODE I
Leaving the set when it was over.

ON FANS CAMPING OUT AWAITING THE PREMIERE
I went to visit some of them at Mann's Chinese. They are really nice people.
