    DC Comics to Relaunch All Titles at #1 with Same Day Digital Sales [UPDATED]

    The entire DC Comics line of comic books will be re-launched with new #1 issues and feature "younger" and cosmetically redesigned versions of the heroes of the DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Jim Lee, Justice League will be the first of the more than 50 titles to debut in September, each of which will go on sale with same day digital releases via DC's various mobile applications and Web store. The initiative is designed explicitly to make the DC Universe more palatable for new readers and, in the words of DC Comics Co-Publisher Dan DiDio, "today's audience."

      What if Wolverine Appeared in 'The Dark Knight Returns'? [Video]

      If you're like us you've quite literally never wondered what The Dark Knight Returns would be like if it was a French noir film that included the Hugh Jackman version of Wolverine killing Batman at the end. But filmmaker Pierre Desgranges did wonder that, and he thought the idea was so good that he went ahead and filmed it!

        'Static Shock Special': A Fitting Tribute to Dwayne McDuffie [Exclusive Preview]

        This Wednesday, Static Shock Special hits the stands, and it serves as a tribute to the late Dwayne McDuffie, co-founder of Milestone Media in the '90s. It features work from several Milestone vets, including Denys Cowan, J.H. Williams III, and John Rozum, plus a story by written by Felicia Henderson.

        One of the best ways to pay homage to someone and their work is by following in their footsteps, and Static Shock Special looks to be a great example of the socially-conscious comics that Milestone published in the '90s. After the jump, check out our commentary on Milestone's methods and an exclusive preview of Static Shock Special, which hits stores tomorrow.

            Nina Matsumoto Warps the Realities of 'The Simpsons,' 'Calvin and Hobbes,' 'Beavis and Butthead' and More [Art]

            Nina Matsumoto is far from unknown in the world of comics. Her manga-style "The Simpsons" masterpiece put on the map for a lot of people, and she periodically pencils stories in Bongo's official Simpsons series. Her efforts there even netted her an Eisner back in 2009. You're missing out on her full range of art powers if you haven't seen the Calvin and Hobbes, Futurama and other mashups housed by her deviantART gallery, however.

              CA's Summer Comic Book Movie Preview

              Summertime is upon is once again and it's time for this year's blockbusters to start hitting theaters. Over the past few years, there have been a ton of comic book movies, but this summer, it looks like things are about to hit critical mass. Even with Marvel's Thor already on screens across the world, there are seven more movies either based on or closely tied to comics coming out this summer -- and yes, I'm including The Smurfs in that tally.

              So with that much entertainment staring you down, your friends at ComicsAlliance have your back. Today, I'm not just offering up a rundown of this summer's upcoming comic book movies, I'm ranking how exciting each one is using a unit of measurement I call "The Statham," which represents how excited I was to see Crank 2: High Voltage. Keep in mind, however: Other, lesser movies can only approach 1.0 Stathams, but never actually exceed it. Now let's get to it!

                'Ring Capacity' Animated Music Video Recruits Kirby Krackle into the Green Lantern Corps [Video]

                As the sole member of the "F-Sharp Bell Corps," the sightless Rot Lop Fan gets a lot of credit for infusing the Green Lantern corps with some much needed sound. Fortunately for Hal Jordan, there's an additional cache of would-be Lanterns with the ability to overcome great fear through music and aid the hero in his battle against Sinestro in Kirby Krackle's new animated video for "Ring Capacity." Crafted by longtime Kracklanimator Betsy Lee, the new cartoon centers around a concert colliding with a cosmic clash of colorful constructs. There's not much doubt as to the outcome with Kirby Krackle in Hal's corner, but it's plenty of fun to watch. Check it out after the cut.

                  Don't Ask! Just Buy It! - June 1, 2011: Mickey, Frank and Rex

                  Reading Comics author Douglas Wolk runs down the hottest comics and graphic novels coming out this week.

                  KEY:
                  * Congress
                  ^ Justice Dept.
                  % Bureau of the Interior
                  ¢ Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms

                  * CELLULOID
                  It's been a while since we've heard from Dave McKean in comics, and his new book is a not-very-plot-heavy thing involving a lot of large images and a lot of very stylized nudity and sex. Not Cages II, in other words.

                    Silver Age Remix Comics: Green Lantern's War of Light [Original Art]

                    From Blackest Night to Flashpoint to Fear Itself, today's super-hero comics are all built around the Big Event. But what if those stories had happened forty, fifty, or even sixty years ago? That's the question that ComicsAlliance is trying to answer with the help of artist Kerry Callen (who drew the incredible "Silver Age Marvel" pieces), by reimagining how the biggest modern-day DC Comics event comics would have looked in the Silver Age!

                    First up, Green Lantern takes center stage as a one-man emotional spectrum in The War of Light!

                      The Joker and Harley Quinn Figures to 'Tango With Evil' in Upcoming DC Universe Classics Two-Pack

                      As action figure packaging goes, I appreciate a quality presentation as much as the next guy, but following a quick camera phone pic for later nostalgia, the stuff only lasts as long as it takes me to rip the toys out and place them on my shelf. This stance likely won't change in the face of Mattel's new 6" DC Universe Classics "Mad Love" Joker/Harley Quinn two-pack inspired by Alex Ross' iconic "Tango with Evil" image, but it may give me pause when the set arrives in Toys "R" Us stores later this year.

                        Isaiah Mustafa: Luke Cage Actor for Hire [Video]

                        America's favorite pitch man has a new product to sell Marvel: himself. Best known for his charismatic performances as "the Old Spice guy," Isaiah Mustafa wants the House of Ideas to agree that should it seriously develop a film based on Luke Cage, he is the perfect man to step into the role. To what we presume is that end, Mustafa created a short film in which he stars as the Marvel hero, and you can check it out after the jump,
