Offices & Resources

Our labs, centers and institutes include faculty and undergraduate and graduate students from all across the university dedicated to the very highest research standards. Our research-oriented education is supported by our many libraries and databases. We also support research activities by offering numerous programs and services, including an Office of Sponsored Programs, which helps faculty members apply for grants.

Services also include our Georgetown Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (GUROP), which offers motivated undergraduates the opportunity to work with faculty on their research projects.

The Special Collections Research Center

The Special Collections Research Center, located on the fifth floor of Lauinger Library, provides students, faculty, and researchers access to primary source materials. Center for News Designs and Learning (CNDLS)

CNDLS is home to the scholarship of teaching and learning at Georgetown. Staff members, in addition to faculty and graduate student affiliates, are engaged in advanced research on teaching practices, assessment techniques, instructional design, student learning and technologies to enhance the latest educational environments. Clinical Trials Office

Georgetown University's Clinical Trials Office provides services to researchers assisting with study start-up and administration; patients and the general public, providing up-to-date information about ongoing clinical studies at Georgetown University Medical Center; and sponsors, helping them identify Georgetown investigators for participation in their research. Learn More

Fellowship Office

The Office of the Fellowship Secretary assists students in applying for competitive fellowships, such as the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman and Mitchell. These fellowships are given to individuals with extraordinary achievement, intense passion and deep intellectual curiosity. Georgetown Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (GUROP)

GUROP offers motivated students the opportunity to learn the discipline and experience the rewards of scholarly research by working with faculty on their research projects. Students spend a minimum of 60 hours per semester/summer working with a faculty mentor on that faculty member's research. Learn More
 

Graduate Student Research

The Graduate School is responsible for approving all extramural grant applications from the Main Campus. The school offers numerous resources to graduate students and faculty seeking external grants and works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs to provide additional information and support. Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board's (IRB) safeguards the rights and welfare of all human subjects who participate in research projects conducted by Georgetown. In compliance with Federal law and institutional policy, all research projects involving human subjects or human material must be reviewed and approved by the IRB. All biomedical, social and behavioral research projects conducted by the faculty, the staff and students of the University are subject to the Policies and Procedures of the Institutional Review Board. Office of Sponsored Programs

The mission of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is to provide service to faculty in their pursuit and management of sponsored activities. The office assists faculty members with the entire proposal and award cycle – from identifying funding sources to reviewing grant proposals, negotiating incoming awards, issuing resulting subaward and vendor agreements, and verifying the submission of final technical reports when the grant period is completed.
