Our home
Xandria and Yuri are now newlyweds and as the new year has already arrived, the twosome can now thankfully move into their new home accordingly (based on the Feng Shui advice that the couple received). The struggles and follies – both humorous and tragic – of home renovation and decoration are behind them, and now the twosome can sit back and rest on their laurels.
Now that the renovation and decorating process - as well as wedding nuptials - are behind them, the couple is relieved and seems to appear more relaxed and contented. They recount the many home renovation pitfalls and problems that came across their path, namely the pillar that presented its ugly self when the spare room wall was knocked down. The couple reveals that they redressed the offending pillar with clever wallpapering that mimicked the appearance of tiles.
Xandria also remembers the struggle she had with Yuri over procuring a dryer, as Yuri is quite used to drip-drying his own clothes by hanging them on clothesline. Xandria herself is used to the practicalities of a dryer, and since the couple did finally decide to get one she is appeased when Yuri deadpans, “A dryer is a good idea.”
The couple shows off their new stairway, which is now a new-and-improved version complete with solid timber flooring on each stair and a banister which features metal works with feminine curlicue designs. The usage of wood follows throughout the home and namely the first floor of the house, whereby the flooring is dressed entirely in solid timber.
Xandria and Yuri give us insight into the tough lessons that they have learned during their home renovation. For one, the couple cautions all new homebuyers to always measure the walls and flooring before making any purchase of furniture. And where can one find the best lighting choices in the Klang valley? “… Puchong,” quips Xandria, laughing.
The previous episode saw Xandria and Yuri wrangling with a metaphysical quandary, whereby they were forced to consider moving in months after their wedding to ensure that they adhere to their auspicious date selection. In hindsight, it turned out to be a good idea as the “Feng Shui delay worked in our favour,” says Yuri. The couple has more time to plan ahead and settle all minor renovation and decoration issues before moving in.
The final episode of the series sees Xandria and Yuri throw a housewarming party, with friends and beloved family members present to witness the proud newlyweds unveil their beautiful new house.
