Force Commands
This page is in the process of being updated.
The RAN currently has six Force Commands:
- Fleet Air Arm
- Mine Warfare Clearance Diving Hydrographic Meteorological and Patrol Force
- Submarine Force
- Support Force
- Surface Force
- Training Force
The Force Commands are the engine room of the Navy for the generation of naval combat power. They bring together the platforms, weapons systems and people able to conduct the Navy's core business.
The Force Commands integrate activities to provide operational outputs required by Commander Australian Fleet; and capability management required by Deputy Chief Of The Navy. Within the total Navy planning framework, the Force Commands define and articulate their requirements, priorities and expectations from other agencies and service providers.
The Force Commands monitor the delivery of goods and services to achieve goals defined by the Commander Australian Fleet and Deputy Chief of Navy. The Force Commands coordinate and take overall responsibility for a comprehensive planning process and will either own or have direct call upon the necessary integrated, multi-disciplinary staff expertise and resources to encompass all aspects of the whole of life, whole of capability responsibilities associated with the Force Command.
