Oh, if only the MST3K guys had gotten their hands on this piece of work. See, back in 1949, teens had Kodachrome movies to teach them about every aspect of their social lives. This one features a young man by the name of Woody going on his first date, and it presents all sorts of helpful tips along the way. Tip number 1: Pretty girls are awful human beings. Tip number 2: Homely girls are fun and cheap.

"Something Wierd" has much better ones than this. This one is actually very straightforward .. could be used today in classrooms.

This is like something from a different geological era. Today Woody and Ann would be trolling for hookups on Twitter, Facebook or Craigslist.

Oh come on! What's wrong with this video? It's dated, yeah, of course it is, it's over 60 years old, but it's not creepy. There are plenty of better--and funnier--old instructional videos out there.

Another poster said it best, what is creepy about being respectful and thoughtful towards
someone on your first date? It seems like the media and music industry today are doing
everything in their power to turn young people today into base animals. Don't listen to them,
treat your date in a way you would like to be treated in return, make the effort to listen and don't make the whole experience about you, find common grounds and make the effort to have a good time. Don't expect sex on your first date, that kind of thinking is wrong not matter what sort of message the media is trying to send you. People are not sex objects to be used and discarded like trash. If the date doesn't work out be civil about it, accept that you can't be compatible with everyone.Just be honest and thank them for making the effort, you don't need to part enemies and who knows, you might find later you hit it off better as friends, it's been known to happen.

i'm pretty sure what HP writer meant by "creepy" was the strange characterizations of the girls. suggesting a girl is 'superior' and no fun just because she's 'good-looking' is very odd, even for 1940's.

I think Woody liked the way Anne went at that cotton candy! Maybe they should have given her a popsicle instead.

Oh my gosh. This was so cute. I think there are some lessons to remember in there, too! LOL

This isn't really "creepy". It's common-sense practice.
1) Q: How to ask a girl out? A: be confident
2) Q: How to behave if asked out? A: appreciate his company and be fun.

What's so creepy about that?

Man, the way Ann goes down on that cotton candy, I think Woody was hopin' for a little more on his date than a quick goodnight on the front porch. And what's he so damn happy about at the end? Ann's a drag.
