Homegrown hero Micah Richards has pipped his high-profile team-mates to land the Etihad Player of the Month award after a fabulous February that saw him look every inch an England full-back.

Micah took a bashing too - he knocked himself cold for the cause at Birmingham - and for good measure weighed in with the final goal in the 5-0 FA Cup replay romp against Notts County.

It was more than enough to earn him his first award of the season with almost 33 per cent of the vote, ahead of three-times winner David Silva, who was second, and defender Vincent Kompany with over a quarter of the poll.

Skipper Carlos Tevez was fourth and Yaya Toure fifth.

Micah will receive his Etihad award from Blues fan Mark Berisford, one of those who voted for the winner and came out of the hat in the lucky draw. Mark will meet his hero at Carrington in the near future.
