Expertise and Research Interests

My current research involves prevention of infectious diseases, with particular reference to HIV/AIDS, STDs, and tuberculosis. Other applied interests include cross-cultural aspects of sexual (particularly homosexual) behavior, substance abuse and sexuality, and behavioral epidemiology of HIV and STDs, and Sexual behavior on the Internet and STD/HIV risk.

My particular setting of interest and concern is correctional environments (prisons and jails).

Theoretical interests include risk behaviors for HIV and STDs, with particular emphasis on situational determinants of risks and the psychology of situations. I work in Scandinavia, India, Africa, Vietnam and Thailand as well as the United States.
