Yates Field House is a four-level, 142,000- square-foot complex offering a comprehensive array of recreational facilities on campus, including space for tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, racquetball/handball and squash. Yates also features a 200-meter indoor track, a 25-meter indoor pool, exercise machines, saunas and meeting, dance and lounge areas.
Yates Field House was built in 1979 and is named for Gerard Yates, S.J., dean of the graduate school in the 1950s. He spent 40 of his 72 years on campus, as a teacher, as dean of the Graduate School, and as the originator of what is now the Office of International Programs.
