Intrinsically Sinful

Dear Pastor, or, rostered Church Leader,

On September 30, 2008 I wrote a letter to you concerning a Wheat Ridge Ministries Symposium being held on October 2-4 2008 in Milwaukee WI which featured Rev. Chuck Ruehle leading a workshop on The Church and Race.

Rev. Chuck Ruehle is a long time member of the Network for Inclusive Vision, and is serving on it’s Board of Directors. The sole purpose of the Network is to advocate the gay agenda: the inclusion of openly homosexual clergy and the blessing of homosexual unions.

I asked all of you to oppose this blasphemy against our Lord and Savior by warning innocent persons involved to not honor a false teacher.

I was hoping to reach Lutheran pastors who were trying to uphold their duty listed in the Small Catechism: “He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”

On October 3, 2008, Nebraska District President, Rev. Russell Sommerfeld, a member of the Wheat Ridge Ministries Board of Directors, wrote a letter while attending the Symposium to the LCMS Council of Presidents (COP) which has been widely circulated.

He reported that he “attended the workshop” and at the last minute Wheat Ridge had changed the leader so that “The leader was not Rev. Chuck Ruehle, but his wife Rev. Susan Ruehle.” She was assisted by Rev. Jessica Vasquez.  “Both are trainers for the Crossroads anti-racism organization.”

The duty of a Lutheran pastor is to be “able to teach.” Before anyone can teach they need to learn. There are two relevant websites. One for the Network for Inclusive Vision and another for CLOUT: Christian Lesbians Out Together. They contain very clear declarations of commitment. The fact that they are declarations of false doctrine does not make them any less clear. Any teenager in our Church can find these websites.

As is her husband, Susan Ruehle is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Network. Jessica Vasquez is featured on the website of CLOUT, where she is identified as a lesbian under the name Jessica Vasquez Torres. “Jessica and her partner have a pillow that says ‘We have good friends who are white heterosexuals’.”

The organization Crossroads anti-racism was founded by Joseph Barndt who wrote several books which mock God and defame whites by defining them all as racists. Crossroads training material promotes the gay agenda.

This is another first for Wheat Ridge. An LCMS District President has chosen to be instructed by two women who, contrary to scriptural practice, have been installed as clergy. One is a gay agenda advocate and the other is in an open lesbian relationship.

President Sommerfeld ended his letter by stating that the Symposium he was attending was providing “ministry information and networking for the seeding of new ministries of health and hope in the Name of the healing Christ.” If anyone is lead to believe that this statement applies to the training President Sommerfeld received from Ruehle and Vasquez  they would be seriously deceived.

President Sommerfeld wrote “President Kieschnick stated the clear biblical position of the LCMS that homosexual behavior is intrinsically sinful.”

President Sommerfeld needs to repent for his action and also lead Wheat Ridge to repent for having a gay agenda advocate and a lesbian activist teach in the Church.

Yours in Christ,
Dan Ford
