In 2011, not only did His Holiness the Dalai Lama come to Fayetteville, AR for a visit but TCIA also received a donation of six acres of wooded land to build a retreat center  and an anonymous donor has provided funds for us to start the building process.

We need help in accomplishing this big task and are asking for volunteers to help with clearing the land, burning debris, providing building materials and most importantly providing volunteer labor.  We have a general contractor and carpenter camped on the land and should be getting electricity there shortly. We are currently working on building a retreat center in Crosses, which is in Madison County, a 40 minute drive from Fayetteville on Highway 16 East.   Plans are underway to build a 35 by 40 foot meditation hall, an office with kitchen and restroom facilities and twelve individual meditation huts.  The retreat center will be handicap accessible and is located on a beautiful 6 acre wooded tract.

We have also been given a Reese 22.5 foot canvas tipi to use as a “guest house” for any volunteers wanting to come out, camp and spend a few days there.  We will be setting that up soon and if anyone has experience in setting up tipi’s we could use some help.

Please call Georgia Lance at 479-643-3870 with questions or to schedule a visit to the site, or to volunteer money, labor or materials.
