Zuper Zidan Did it Again!

Date: 25-4-2004
Wrote: EP's reporter Islam Issa

Unstoppable Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan scored yet another time for FCM in their home game against FC Nordsjaelland. The game ended in a 3-0 victory for Zidan's FCM and he was the one who opened the score in the 52nd minute of the game while Frank Kristensen and Thomas Frandsen added the 2nd and the 3rd in the 74th and 76th minutes respectively.

It was indeed another great day at the Ikast Stadion, or should it be called the Zidan Ztadion. It was not a problem that the name is Ikast, because it was a Zidan atmosphere there, all eyes on him, with Egyptian flags waving everywhere.

The spotlight is on Zizou...

Pre-game:

The last two games in the new stadium saw good wins for Midtjylland, as they scored 9 goals, 8 of which were by Zidan. There were therefore high expectations.

The game:

There was a tough start to the game, although on 28 minutes Zidan could have started the scoring when he had an opportunity. On the left edge of the area, he controlled wonderfully with the outside of his right foot, leaving the defender on the ground. He then shot but it went at the keeper, and almost rebounded back but was eventually held.

After a goal-less first half, Zidan scored his ninth in three home games! In the 52nd minute, he ran from behind the half way line, but after losing it, it returned to Claus Madsen. Madsen passed through to Kristensen on the left, who managed to pass it in for Zidan, who controlled and blasted with his left from eight yards out to make it 1-0!

It was not all over. Pimpong received the ball on the right in the 74th minute and passed it square to Zidan. The Egyptian swivelled on the ball and found Frandsen behind him, who cleverly chipped it back to him. Zidan then controlled and struck an on the turn volley at goal. The keeper stopped wonderfully but it came back to Frank Kristensen who headed in to make it 2-0!

Just a couple of minutes after the second, the third came! Thomas Frandsen, who had played a part in the previous goals, got the ball by the half way line. He ran towards the goal and scored brilliantly from the edge of the area on the right side... 3-0!

The game finished with that result, and Zidan did it again, and scored on home turf!

Post-game:

Loved ones congratulate Zidan after the game...

Zidan also got interviewed after the game, although this time, the main issue wasn't the match, but his international call-up. Zizou said to the cameras exactly what he said to EP, that he has had no official call-up yet, although he is awaiting a fax from the EFA.

EP's rating for Zidan in this game is 7/10. It was a solid performance...
