Presidential election will cost 1.5 billion


Today Central election commission will approve the budget for holding of presidential election in 2010 and also the budget for serving of state register of electors. According to estimation, made by the members of the CEC, more than UAH 1.5 billion should be foreseen in the state budget for presidential election and UAN 952 million for election of local authorities.

805 from that sum (1.5 billion) are costs for work of members of the election commissions. In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet from July 22, the salary for the members of election commissions is increased.

Earlier it was predicted that election campaign will not exceed UAH 1 billion.

As a reminder, in 2004 UAH 391 million was allocated for holding of presidential election.
