About Peace 586

Most hip-hop artists have a short shelf-life. There are so many that just come and go appropriately fading away after one or two releases. Their mediocre efforts are just as well forgotten, not able to pass one of the most meaningful tests of all: the test of time.

But on rare occasion, you come across an exception – someone truly exceptional like Rene “Peace 586” Vasquez. Peace is a rare breed in hip-hop; someone who is both progressive and pioneering – a veteran emcee/producer that has spent the last 20+ years pouring his heart and soul into his craft, releasing one memorable hip-hop classic after another. Over the last two decades, Peace has amassed quite a devoted and diverse fanbase, the kind that respects and moves forward with him, as a living legend.

It was in the 80’s and 90’s that Peace’s started to break ground all around, releasing game-changing albums with his crews Freedom of Soul and The Tunnel Rats. Additionally, throughout his long stretch in hip-hop Peace has collaborated with a long list of who’s whos including Ahmad (4th Avenue Jones’), ANOINTED (produced by Mario Winans), Ajax Starglider, Brainwash Projects, bTwice, Crystal Lewis, Dert, Dynamic Twins, Freestyle Fellowship, Future Shock, Idol King, The Innernationals, Jon Gibson, Jurny Big, LPG, Mass Reality, New Breed, P.I.D., Pigeon John, Propaganda, Raphi, Remnant, Saturday Night Freestyle, Sev Statik, SFC, Sojourn, Soup the Chemist, T-Bone, Zane and many others.

Now after an extended and difficult 6 year hiatus (difficult for rap fans, that is), Peace has finally returned to make everyone “heAr” – an amazing 17 track instrumental album featuring some Peace’s finest production to date. It’s not just an instrumental album though, as many of the tracks are clad with rare guest appearances from some of the finest Tunnel Rat emcees including Dax, Griffin, Jurny, Propaganda, Raphi aka Shames Worthy, Sojourn, Triune and Zane.

New and grizzled hip-hop fans alike will not be disappointed by this latest effort from Peace, who continue to grow his sound with every new release. In fact, for anyone with ears to hear, “heAr” is destined to be a must-listen collection of beats and rhymes that will be much loved for many years to come.
